Mini Spool in 8.8?

Ive got a 96 3.0 3.73 5sp. Around 250k on it. Wondering if it would be ok to mini spool it? Advantages? Disadvantages? Not really looking to spend a lot and really don't wanna weld it up.

300,000+ Odometer stopped working about 2 years ago. Reads at 236,412.

Clunking noise when taking off

96 ranger 5sp. 4x4. Taking off in first it makes a clunking noise. Not sure what it is. Someone know about this? Is it a serious issue?
