Suddenly Stalled on Highway

Today, I was driving at about 50 mph in 5th gear on a highway and the truck suddenly stalled. I immediately smelled gas when it stalled (I didn't smell it at all before then). I assumed that the...

Power Steering Pulley won't line up

I have a friend that does mechanic work on the side. The power steering pump needed to be replaced. The pump went on easily. The pulley will go on but it will not go far back enough to line to where...

Re: Best lock for back window?

Seems like anything additional to try to make getting into the truck harder would be pointless. I guess I'll put in a security system as a deterrent and roll the dice.

Best lock for back window?

I wanted to put in a pretty nice navigation unit in the dash of my Ranger, but my mechanic suggested that I get something to help make the back window of the Ranger harder to break into (he said it...

Re: I'm surprised at how quiet the 3.0 is at highway speeds

Thanks for checking. I didn't know that some Rangers came with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Looks like my axle is 3.45.

Re: I'm surprised at how quiet the 3.0 is at highway speeds

I forgot that it could be my gear ratio. I'll have to find out what the ratio is. Thanks!

I'm surprised at how quiet the 3.0 is at highway speeds

I drove my Ranger up to 65 mph (on the speedometer) on a road in my county that has a speed limit of 55 mph. I had a lot of wind noise, but the engine seemed to be very quiet. I don't have a RPM...

EGR Tube Replacement

My truck is almost done with being worked on (I started having stuff replaced almost as soon as I bought it). The EGR tube was a bit worse for wear so I ordered a new EGR tube. The problem is, it...

Re: Good Brake Rotors and Drums?

Wheel bearings seem to be good. I'm not sure what I will do when they go bad. Any recommendations?

Re: Good Brake Rotors and Drums?

I decided to go ahead and try both the drums and the rotors from HJS Automotive's Duraplus brand. I will let you know how they are. Reviews for the company look good, but it doesn't look like many...

Good Brake Rotors and Drums?

My friend and I have been working on my Ranger since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. The brake rotors are in terrible shape and need to be replaced. The drums are not of as much consequence but I...

Re: Time to let her go.

I was tempted to say the same, but I held my tongue since no one asked for my financial advice. Never, ever, EVER, take out a loan for a car or lease a car. I'd take an uber driver every day before...

Re: first time problems

This does not sound like a blown head gasket to me. Let me know when you check to see if the coolant is leaking. I'm not an expert, but I'll do what I can to help.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

Thanks. I think it will be fine once the alternator is fixed (unless that little episode took the battery with it).

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

The battery light came on when I was driving the truck home last night so I took it to an autoparts place to have the battery and alternator load tested. I found out the alternator was putting out...

Re: first time problems

How does your oil look? Is there white exhaust coming out of the exhaust pipe? Have you noticed a loss of any coolant? If there is no loss of coolant, it may be something else.

Re: LED Lights For Gauge Cluster-Is an adapter needed?

Is there a separate LED for the needle that points to the others? Going with white with a blue color for the needle might look pretty cool. Thanks!

LED Lights For Gauge Cluster-Is an adapter needed?

My dash lights in the Ranger that I bought do not work. I am most concerned about the gauges so I can see how fast I'm going at night. If I upgrade the lights to LEDs for all of the interior dash...

Re: 2003 Shudders When Gas Peddle is released

Full disclosure, I'm not an expert on cars, but I have wrestled with rough idle with my engine-swapped Miata on several occasions. The tricky thing about rough idle is that it can be caused by a...
