Re: Oil Type Question

Not a fan of Quaker State. Not sure if they still do but several years ago they used paraffin wax as an additive. It would clog up oil passages and cause sludge buildup throughout.

I bought a...

Re: Ford Dealer or Stealership

Mainly the dealership didn't want to do it in case something would go wrong. They didn't want the liability.

Re: lift kit installation. Is it DYI

I am dead serious. I have seen trucks on the road that you could see the bump steer when they hit a pot hole.

Re: lift kit installation. Is it DYI

It is dangerous. Racing always will be. However I feel safer inside a full containment seat with a 5 point harness, HANS device, full face helmet, fire suit, and a steel cage around me. Plus ackerman...

Re: '94 5spd binding linkage ?

If you can hear some noise when you push the clutch down, you have a bad throw out bearing or pilot bearing. Time for a new clutch. I'd say that is why it is hard to get into gear.

Re: lift kit installation. Is it DYI

You don't realize how easy it is to get bump steer and how dangerous that is.

Re: lift kit installation. Is it DYI

I wouldn't. Lifts mess with steering geometry and make it unsafe to drive.

Re: crankshaft position sensor

I've had one go bad that didn't throw any codes. When you cranked the engine over it would putter and try to start but would not run. Took it off and tested it with a multimeter and it was ok. New...

Re: Road Noise

I don't notice much road noise. Maybe you have a wheel bearing going bad?

Re: My truck is dropping temperature when idling?

I think you have an air bubble in the coolant system.

Re: Squealing coming from the front of engine bay

Usually a fan clutch just locks up and runs the fan at full speed all the time. Sounds like a big fan blowing air on full blast. I agree with tomboy about the water pump. Could be the bearings in the...

Re: Engine Temperature question

I think your thermostat is sticking closed and then opening late. I'd change it before it stays stuck closed and overheats your engine.

Re: Front Suspension Help

Usually you just replace the whole a-arm. It is a little bit more expensive but saves you a lot of time over trying to press the ball joint out of the arm.

P.S. If you tried to put a picture in...

Re: Intermittent Electrical Problem

There is a big black plug on the firewall under the hood. It has a lot of wires and a bolt in the middle. I have heard of it getting loose and dirty on Explorers so it could happen on Rangers too I...

Re: Starting issues

Check all the fuses and relays. It could be the ignition switch is worn out.

Re: Stage 3 clutch

As said above, there really is no reason to have an upgraded clutch at all when the engine is stock or even a little bit upgraded. But if you do put it in, I don't see how it would cause any damage...

When to replace rack and pinion

I'm asking when is it time to replace the rack and pinion? When I was putting my summer tires on this weekend, I always check ball joints, tie rods, etc. I felt just a tiny bit of slop on the tie...

Re: how is my radiator even holding any fluid at all??

JB Weld isn't going to work unless you drain the radiator completely dry.

Re: Scratching noise under load

This is a pretty good guess and makes sense to me.

Pistons don't make a scratching sound, more of a slapping/knocking sound when they go bad and compression would be dropping.

Re: Differential Fluid Advice?

I really wouldn't be worried about 5 difference on rear end fluid. In the engine maybe, but the rear end it will be just fine. Proper level and keeping the vent working is more critical than...

Re: mini spool/lockers

If you are building a mud buggy or something that won't ever see asphalt, a c-clip mini spool might be ok, but if you plan on driving it on asphalt at all, NO. It is a bad idea to lock the rear end...
