Re: whats parts are worth performing port/polish
Exhaust ports,
Lay a stock manifold gasket over the ports and match the gasket size if it's bigger than the port. Same with the manifold.

Re: pump up the 3.0 hamster?
I would recommend a .015-.020 off, no more, no less.
Do a mock up assembly, get crank in the block, use an assembly lube, and take your time and test fit.

Re: pump up the 3.0 hamster?
Make sure the shop checks the crankshaft thrust surface and for excessive wear. That controls tour shaft end play.
I'd put in New cam bearings and have the cam main journals checked for wear. If...

Re: Coolant leak - manifold nipple
If that valve is ok, could be air in system. My 01 just got new radiator for Xmas. Had to burp it many times.
Its worth looking at the valve, I had heat whole time tho.

Re: pump up the 3.0 hamster?
My 01 3.0 carries 180 psi of compression. I have ran it on e85 many times. It ran just fine, can tell a slight difference in power, but it wasn't much to complain.
I did the e85 on longer trips,...

If it's a time sensitive situation, then find a junkyard engine, and keep the original to rebuild.
Rebuild it, then pull the junkyard engine back out n install your fresh engine. Put your junkyard...

If they are not cracked, they are able to be reconditioned.
From what see from your photos, are a pair that need to be reworked.
Me, I would have a field day with those heads in my mill! I could...

Re: Modified 3.0
I'm thinking this spring, tearing my 01 3.0 down n freshen up long block.
It runs fine. Can't hurt.
I'm looking at some port work mainly on exhaust side, cat back exhaust but still quiet.
If it...

Has anyone built up a 3.0 ? Over size pistons, cams, bolt on options?
Why?

Re: pump up the 3.0 hamster?
Fix it. Have crank ground, have rods resized, would be the first route.
Good time to check the block out, if it looks good n measures out then get an overhaul kit n be done with it. You would know...

Re: Two wheel drive edge V8 options.
Yea. I like the torsion bar setup.
Plug n play. Does the donor have to be 2001 specific, short question, what years can I use for plug n play?
I've always had to run 89-93 octane in my 3.0. It'll...

Re: Two wheel drive edge V8 options.

My 3.0 runs good, 215k miles. I believe that it could use a freshen up on the bottom end. It doesn't knock or rattle, but I'm sympathetic tho.
I gather...

Rangers rock.
I've had a few good ones. Put a lot of miles on them.
Don't shoot me, my first hot rod was a v8 s10.
My first drag car was a 80 turbo mustang, with a 406 Chevy.
Only reason it...
