Re: Selling the ranger

I'd say $5000-6000 is a sensible price range. It's a bit blingy for my taste, so it's hard for me to gauge the market on it.

Aftermarket wiper arm?

Going for a more oldschool look with my truck. I want to get some chrome wiper blades, but I'm wondering if I can replace the arm as well. Is this a generic fitment part or is it unique to the...

Re: Engine Swap

If you're gonna do the work, why not just do the 302 swap? Seems like an awful lot of work to put in just to have another gutless 4 banger...

Re: Just turned 16, which Rangers should I look at?

You want to know how it will compare, well the old shape (83 to 92) Ranger is going to be absolutely gutless compared to the 7.3L turbo diesel you're learning to drive in right now. I own a 2009...

Re: Air pressure monitor in the wheels

I hear ya, I really hate TPMS too and I consider myself fortunate to live in Canada where it isn't mandatory to have the system functioning. I'd love to see Ford and others drop the system, but...

EDIT: Screw it, not worth arguing the point.

Re: Air pressure monitor in the wheels

That might be true for other brands and maybe even some Fords, but the Ranger has sensors strapped to the wheels on giant hose clamps. Also I wouldn't exactly say that "just put the sensors in the...

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

I said I wasn't going to wire the backup lights today, but I couldn't resist:

I had the chance to semi-test them when reversing into the dimly lit underground...

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

Got the front lights wired up:

Looks real nice in the dark. As I suspected this was really easy to do. I simply touched the live and earth to the contacts on the...

Re: Air pressure monitor in the wheels

Do you know that for a fact, or are you just speculating? I'd be interested to see the research/statistical analysis.

Re: Air pressure monitor in the wheels

You could just completely delete the light in the dash. TPMS is not required in Canada, and none of the provinces have made any special rules about it. Since all the official research has so far...

Re: What do I do?

AFAIK all years of SOHC will swap in. Ford really didn't change much in these trucks over the years.

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

So today I added some running lights to the front:

Re: First Ford

1. I wouldn't bother trying to fix it. Just go to a junk yard and find a Ranger with 60/40 seats. Ford made a buttload of these trucks so no matter where you are there's a junk yard near by that has...

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

Sometimes it takes a little while for the images to resize. And yeah I agree, if you don't look back at your vehicle when it's parked, you own the wrong vehicle. The more work I do to it the better...

No more TPMS light! I have no idea why it stayed on for so long after airing up the tank, but I guess the computer just has to do a few cycles of checking things...

Re: Made TPMS Pipe Bomb - TPMS light still on

Nevermind, the TPMS light has now gone out. Guess it just needed some time to detect the sensors again?

Made TPMS Pipe Bomb - TPMS light still on

Took the old wheels off with the tires still mounted back in May because I bought some AR 15x8 wheels that came with some good 31" mud terrains. Obviously the TPMS light came on because the sensors...

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

Yeah the holes are going to be plugged. I'm either going to lead-load the holes or mig weld them, and then repaint the panels.

The TPMS light is on because I removed the stock wheels and replaced...

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

They call it a "4 wheel alignment", but as I understand it all they're actually doing is adjusting the front end using the rear wheels as a point of reference. The rear gets measured in that process,...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread IV

http://i.imgur.com/SqkBfXl.jpg

I made a "pipe bomb" for my TPMS sensors. Took a bit of tweaking to get it to hold air. Now it's in the truck sitting at 60 psi. Only problem is, the TPMS light...

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

So after enduring the TPMS sensor warning light on my dash for long enough, I finally built this:

7up for scale. This black thing is the so called "pipe bomb...

Re: Scottydog's Build Thread

Welp, just found out that my torsion bars have never been cranked. There's well over an inch of adjustment there. Guess that's one more thing that the mechanics at Steel Horse lied to me about...
