Re: Cut blue wires hanging down from back bumper

I wonder if the strange wiring could be related to being pulled behind another vehicle, like an RV?
I know this truck was pulled long distances...

Cut blue wires hanging down from back bumper

Hello,

I recently noticed a thin, green wire with a blue connector is dangling loose beneath my back bumper (1st & 2nd pic). I found another small piece of wire under the bumper that it was...

Re: Popping sound from front when going over bumps

Thank you both for the replies and information.

I jacked my wheel up and grabbed the tire at 12 and 6 position but I didn't feel any play, so I lowered it.

Then I got under there and grabbed my...

Re: Popping sound from front when going over bumps

I think I'll go to the auto parts store tomorrow and buy Moog sway bar bushings (blue thermoplastic) and see if that fixes the rattling.

If it doesn't, I guess I'll order new links from Rockauto...

Re: Popping sound from front when going over bumps

Hi,
So I jacked the driver's side up today and grabbed the tire...moved it up and down, left and right, and I didn't feel any play.

Everything under there felt tight to me, but I wasn't sure...

Re: Popping sound from front when going over bumps

Interesting, thank you so much. I will jack my truck up this weekend and check those areas.

Popping sound from front when going over bumps

Hi everyone,

For a while now, whenever I go over bumps I hear a quiet popping sound like a slight "clatter"/rattle...coming from the driver's side wheel area, even when I go very slowly over...

Re: Transmission bolt sizes

Thank you, good idea. I'll pull the two bolts when I go to Lowes tomorrow. I've got to remember to park with the front facing downhill as the leaky pan bolt is nearest the back of the truck...Don't...

Transmission bolt sizes

Hello,

I did an oil change yesterday, and while I was under there, I noticed a couple things I'd like to take care of:

1. My transmission bell housing(?) - the wide, rounded area that is bolted...

Re: Is this wiring normal for master cylinder???

I ended up switching the reddish-brown and the black connectors. No CEL or anything. I guess it doesn't matter WHERE they're plugged into, just as long as they're plugged in. lol

Re: Is this wiring normal for master cylinder???

Thanks, kgo5xd! That's really helpful.
Probably 80% of the pics I've looked at of engine bays for our trucks show the red connector plugged into the red thing on front of master cylinder like yours...

Re: Is this wiring normal for master cylinder???

Thank you! I think I understood most of your message, except maybe the second half ("Usually installed in the service pay as you pull in quick and dirty snap in." < Sorry, I don't understand this...

Re: Rough idle/shake

Not sure about your specific issue, but this is my checklist of typical causes for low idle:

1. Vacuum Leak

2. Throttle Body needs cleaning

3. IAC valve malfunctioning or needs cleaning

Re: Is this wiring normal for master cylinder???

Well I guess it doesn't matter if the red or black connector is hooked into the end of the master cylinder. Regardless of which one's hooked in, all the wires and systems are getting power...and I...

Re: Is this wiring normal for master cylinder???

Thanks very much for the reply.
Yes, I noticed that black wire bundle coming out of the bottom. I wonder if that's what would normally come out of the black casing, and if so why did someone make it...

Re: Fuel system cleaner

I have had wonderful results with Redline Fuel System Cleaner. Running a bottle through my tank always results in better MPGs - at least for a while.

I know that Berryman B-12 Chemtool also gets...

Hey everyone, it's your girl Robin back again. :-)

Re: Intermittent ticking, loudest at bracket

I'm ressurecting this old thread of mine from 2017 regarding an intermittent, loud knocking coming from my front lower portion. I've thought of -- and eliminated -- a number of things: rod knock,...

Re: Blinking "Overdrive Off" Light

Just to update this thread, the sensor that was throwing the code has been replaced.

And I ended up getting a transmission overhaul -- not *quite* as extensive as a full rebuild, but very...

I have a 2003 2.3 L. Ranger w/ automatic transmission w/ 168k miles on odometer.

Re: Rough idle

Make sure your throttle body is sparkling clean.
Aside from cleaning throttle body & IAC, replacing my throttle position sensor solved my problem with occasional low idling.

Re: New Motorcraft AC compressor 1.5 yrs ago...dead already?

I think he does know that, but he was trying to save me money by making it an option, if I chose to forego it. I thought I was going in there just to have my high/low side port schrader valves...
