Re: 98 4x4 blinking lights, List of things to check?

I did not hear anything. I drove it home, parked it, and then went out of town the next day I just got back last night, and was hoping to take a look at it today after work.

98 4x4 blinking lights, List of things to check?

So I replaced my transfer case motor less than a year ago, and had working 4x4, but its been a few months since I've tried to use it, went to use it last week and as soon as I flicked the switch, got...

Re: Request for pics 31 vs 33" tires on a 98 4x4

I take my truck off road, and was wondering what it looked like, and if there were any major rub points.

T-bars have been cranked.

I would like to get 33" tires vs the 31" tires I currently have. I was wondering if anybody has any pictures of...

I have a 98 4x4, unmodified. Currently working on my other toy, once I get it "finished' I plan on doing some stuff to my truck as well, to make...

Re: I need your opnion please

don't ship it, fly out, drive it back. Road trip! it will take a few days (or 5) but it will cost you a whole lot less money, even staying in hotels. I've been thinking of buying another saab, but...

Re: Can bedliner go bad?? I need a chemist!!

Yes, just like paint, bed liners have stabilizers, elastimers, and other chemicals that keep it in a form to be sprayed on. Those chemicals break down with time/heat. Spoil is probably not the...

Re: Ford ranger 4×4 compared to s10 Toyota ECT...

There's a reason I own a truck, and not my jeep... My jeep was amazing, but I didn't need an off road toy, I needed something I could haul stuff with. (plus the jeep got like 12mpg...).

I've been...

Re: Replace rear shock

Hmm... then it really depends on how it rides. If it is bouncy, or dives under hard braking, then I would Look into replacing them. It used to be that you could bounce the corner of a vehicle, and...

Re: Replace rear shock

I almost never buy OEM, since they are typically the exact same as after market but for 2x the price because you buy from a ford dealer.

I put these on mine, and are quite happy:
Front -...

Re: Ford ranger 4×4 compared to s10 Toyota ECT...

I bought an Isuzu I-290(chevy colorado) at the end of 2007, it was just a 2wd, and I owned it till the end of 2009, when my wife was pregnant with our first, and it was our only car (we both had...

Re: Replace rear shock

60k is about when you should start replacing them anyways. but yes, even if they had just 30k miles on them, I would replace both, they are like tires or brakes, or any other thing on the car, you do...

Re: New Owner and Crash survivor

I run hercules Terra trac ATII tires. I'm pretty happy with them.

https://www.herculestire.com/tire-details/Hercules/Terra%20Trac%20AT%20II

I've put close to 15k miles on them, and they still...

Re: I need a lift

I haven't lifted my ranger, but in my experience in lifting my jeep, going cheap was a HUGE mistake. $500 doesn't seem like it would be enough for a quality lift.

Re: Anyone know when you're supposed to replace your coil?

I'm doing the same with my 2003.5 mazdaspeed protege I am working on. putting new shocks in? well going to replace the strut mount, brakes, and sway bar bushings too. Do they need to be replaced? no,...

Re: Anyone know when you're supposed to replace your coil?

I replaced mine on my 98 with only 83k miles on it. BUT I had to re gasket the intake plenums and had to remove it, and i figured, if I was removing it anyways, I might as well replace it. Otherwise,...

Re: 2002 Edge - Manual - 2WD Snow Truck...

2wd trucks can be OK in the snow with a decent tire, and a quite of bit of weight in the back. My FIL keeps sand bags in the bed, as close to the tail gate as possible. These trucks ride better with...

Re: V8 swap follow ups?

Explorers use the same platform, so it's a direct drop in. Cuts out 2/3rds the work that most swaps require.

Re: how do I store my truck for 4 months?

Yeah, slather it on any electrical connection, normally your engine bay gets hot and drives off moisture, but sitting, that won't happen, so you will want to cover anything exposed.

so much...

Re: Good year wrangler radials

with that little of driving, I would be getting pretty cheap tires, and budgeting to replace them every few years (and hitting up for warranty replacements as well).

Re: Good year wrangler radials

x2 on looking up the date code, but tires can rot if they sit. Tires have an oil in them that gets worked through the tires when they are driven that keeps them soft/protected from UV, if let to sit,...

Re: 31" tires

I don't think I would want super swampers on a daily driver... Talk about loud and they would wear very quickly. Like 10-15k miles MAX.

Re: 31" tires

I've been a big fan of hercules tires, and they have been my go to for quite a while. They have been a great bang for the buck.

On my jeep I am currently running the terra trac T/G Max tires, and...
