Re: belt replacement and tightening
Yup, crow bars and sledge hammers have a place in your mechanics toolbox.
The power steering actually has an adjuster, not sure about the AC but it should too (mine ain't got one).

Re: 90 ranger 2.9 runs bad when hot
My 90 did that with timing out by 2 degrees!
Assuming it's not that I'd check the coolant temp sensor, fuel pressure, exhaust for leaks, O2, and MAP... this is a job for a multimeter!
I could...

Re: Ford ranger t6 differential
It's its own thing. The old rangers where 35 equivalent on the front, 60 on the back but where Ford not Spicer manufactured (Dana is a brand). The diff on the T6 I believe is an 8.8 32-spline but is...

Re: Transmission won't shift into any gear
When they are going, doing maintenance is the kiss of death. Because you were slipping, flushing it just was the last straw and the clutch packs are no longer engaging

Re: 1998 ford ranger 2.5 very slow acceleration on 4th and even slower on 5
My 2.3 started to get really sluggish (even for a dog) as the clutch went. Test it by seeing if the engine will stall with the clutch out in fourth.

Re: 2.3 radiator work for my 2.9 1990 bronco 2?
I wouldn't try it, 2.9's love to heat grenade. But it should fit the frame mounts due to standardized parts.
Why no just hang the AT radiator out of a 4.0 explorer if desperate? The trans cooler...

Re: Anyone ever try Berryman 3 step?
I've used real de-carbon treatments professionally before. The real ones have to "sit" in the engine for a while.
Yet, what are you trying to do? I've open blown engines with no fouling. Ever...

Up to 91 at least, I think it was out by the end of 92 (but you never know what old stock they used up). It came in with EFI around 85

Re: Lifter noise when hot on hiway
IDK about oil pressure always causing lifter noise. My Miata had it from day one because the OEM clearanced the lifters a bit oddly and the TSB was never done. And I think every Honda motorcycle is...

Re: Paranoid about heat
I think I fixed the overheat... one of the thermostat bolts had sheared off!
Anyways, no it seems to hang out in the "NOR" neighborhood with a 192 thermostat. Still curious.

Paranoid about heat
I have a 2.9 4x4 with a 4" lift. Wanna swap a 4.0 in but that's out of budget at the moment (it's the electronics part that kills it).
It has 2 new heads, a new rad 4.0 explorer HD piece, new...

Back Window Hardware 2nd gen barn door
Anyone have the metal trim come off? I'm not even sure I have all the pieces by the looks of things.
Do I have to buy it whole or does anyone in SO Cal (I.E.) have a set to sell used?
Thanks!

I was a shop mechanic, normally we'd use top-level but still "off the shelf" in a part's house mystery box. Acdelco straight up is Chevy OEM, and the other big names have earned it.
The most...

Check the fuse, then for 12 volts and ground at the coil. My 2.9 (Cali version) has odd wiring from the factory. Are you in Kaliforniastan?

Re: What problems does a 2.9l have ?
Mine rotted out the valves in So Cal... so it depends on the vehicle at this point.
Depends on the year, 89?-2 fixed the head issues (they just crack in the normal places now :D ) and if an OEM...

Hi from Colton
I've owned a ranger in the past, a 2.3 dog with a 5 speed.
I just picked up a p.o.s. 2.9 1991.
I did a full tune up (dizzy cap was missing the coil piece), replaced the injectors, got all the...
