Thank you! And see ya!

This place has been really great. I have learned a lot from you guys and really enjoy the camaraderie here. My Ranger started spiraling out of control with problems due to age and rust. I replaced it...

Re: What to do? Laundry list of problems is growing.

Considering it a blessing - as I was dreaming up a scheme to fix all this crap my engine started giving me troubles. Took another look on Friday night and saw the endless pit of troubles. Truck is...

Re: Can ball joints make all this racket?

Me too. Actually as I was pondering and investigating the front end, I started having ignition/power issues. Barely made it to a used car dealership and drove out with a nice clean 2008 Frontier :)

Can ball joints make all this racket?

'99 Ranger 2WD 5-spd 135k (sway bar links replaced last year)

Started as a very light sounding 'knock', noticed when rolling slowly through a parking lot. About a week or two later I noticed it...

Re: Rear shocks

It depends on how you drive the vehicle. If you are just driving city roads/highways, the Monroe Sensa Tracks are pretty decent. I had them put on the front of my truck. I did more research and put...

Re: Bearings on a 1998 2wd

I have same question for a '99. There is a great "how to" thread for doing bearings but it is not clear from the auto parts stores which bearing is inner or outter.

Re: What to do? Laundry list of problems is growing.

Thanks guys, I guess that's what I need to hear. I go back and forth between accepting the end service and thinking things like I am today:

Front end seems to be the wheel bearing. New bearings...

What to do? Laundry list of problems is growing.

I have a '99 Ranger XLT 2WD, 135k miles. It is from Vermont and has it's fair share of rust. There are a few things going on (note: I live alone and am relatively new here so hard to find help making...

Wheels for my Ranger - Ohio, $200 range

Looking for a nice set of wheels - 15" or 16" for my '99 2WD Ranger. Stock is fine, just don't want anything bent or rusty.

thanks

Hi, sent an email. Would like to see more pics if possible. I assume they're 15's?

Re: Need shocks: Sensa Trac Load Adjust?

Wow, now having about a week on my fron Sensa Trac shocks, I hate them. Just found the 'Safe and Sound' warranty on Monroe's site, will be calling and hoping to get a refund. Not sure why these come...

Re: Need shocks: Sensa Trac Load Adjust?

Bailed out on them, after thinking about the load being transferred to the shock mounting bolts. Truck is from Vermont and pretty rusty. Went with a KYB Gas-filled Monotube.

Re: Shock absorbers

Hey Dan, any updates on the shocks? My Cincinnati-beaten ranger needs shocks too, was looking at the Gabriel max controls. I haul my motorcycle from time to time and was thinking a monotube would be...

Re: Loud clunk in the front end

Are your sway bar links in tact? They are cheap and easy to fix. I had a clunking sometimes during turns, sometimes from a start, and found one of them to be sheared off.

Re: Different Kind of Heat AC Vent Control Problem

Sounds like I have a similar 'problem'. My compressor clunks on and off intermittently, in what I thought was any position/setting. Sounds like it should do that? Not sure I understand what 'front...

Re: Where's fuel filter on 2.5 liter '00 ranger?

Mine is in the same spot ('99 Ranger) but does need a fuel line tool to remove. Tried the Sharpie cap trick but it was not rigid enough. Harborfreight.com has the tools cheap.

Re: Need help with Tire Chop

Sway bar links are shot. Replaced one, waiting for dry ground and warmer weather to fix other. Will have rest of what you suggested checked out, thanks.

Need help with Tire Chop

Bought my truck ('99 2WD) over the summer and noticed it had a shake at 55-60mph. Brought it to Ford and had tires balanced - they said balancing didn't help, but rotating did. The shake has gone...

Sway link replacement questions

Hey guys,
Found a broken sway bar link on my '99 Ranger. I went with the OEM replacement after reading a bunch of horror stories about Polyurethane and thermoplastics.

1) How tight should I make...
