That is actually exactly what is happening I was able to rev the engine and it would let me into 1st sometimes. I ended up flushing the fluid one more time and added a bottle of Lucas Transmission...

It let's me work through all the gears with the engine off, it gives me resistance halfway into gear on some of them, it tries to stop partway engaged, which happens while driving sometimes as well....

If by checking the fluid level under the hood is the only way then yes it is maybe 1/8th of an inch under the step.

Get better mpg with A/T tires

I just recently installed some bigger A/T tires and wheels and my mpg dropped by over 5 mpg, pumped the tires up to 40 psi still only getting around 16 mpg total.

transfer case fluid

wondering if I absolutely need to be using xl12 transfer case fluid,
right outside the fill hole it says 'ATF LEVEL' but if I look in my manual it calls for the special transfer case fluid.

I've noticed that this is an issue that no one seems to know the answer too but I thought I would give it a shot.
