P/S to Manual Conversion.

Quick question: I have a 96 2wd 4cyl ranger. The Powersteering pump is going out after close to 300k miles. I'm looking alternatives because I'm sick of the sound they make (pump is louder than...

Re: Bite point on clutch pedal moved significantly after backing up trailer.

New Slave Cylinder, clutch fork, and clutch disk. Less than 20k on them all and under 6 months old.

Issue started happening 1 month ago when I backed a lightweight unloaded trailer up a slight...

Re: Bite point on clutch pedal moved significantly after backing up trailer.

Correct! It's also rather smooth when engaging the gear rather than rough like it used to be. I suppose it's not a big deal, but it's at least concerning.

Last night, I drove about 200miles just...

Re: Bite point on clutch pedal moved significantly after backing up trailer.

With all due respect, can you both stop bickering about what kind of clutch my trucks uses. I'd like to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Bite point on clutch pedal moved significantly after backing up trailer.

Hello guys,

I backed up a trash trailer on a hill into a garage with my 96 ford ranger 2.3l 4cyl 2wd. As I was backing up it felt like my clutch dropped out and I got stuck in gear for a moment. I...

Re: A/C not blowing cold

Could I run some stop leak through the system? I've been reading that certain brands of stop leak are highly effective against small leaks, which would be the case with my leak(s). After a recharge,...

Post A/C not blowing cold

Hello everyone. I'm sure that there's plenty of these kinds of post to read but I felt like mine issue isn't quite the same as similar posts that I've seen.

For reference, this is on a 1996 Ford...

Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

FIXED!! Whoever did the Spark Plug Wires before I did screwed up the order. Downloaded a diagram online and fixed the issue within 5 minutes.

Thanks!

Angry Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

Thanks Tom!

For clarification purposes, the truck doesn't spit out higher RPMs with the throttle to the floor, nor do a get a flashing CEL during the bucking as some users have mentioned. The...

Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

I either Downshift or let off the Throttle when bucking occurs and the bucking seemingly goes away. From what you described it sounds like it could be the Clutch.

I haven't done a whole lot with...

Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

*Bump* Could this be a worn out Clutch? Clutch has over 100,000 and I was rough on it when I first got it around the 75,000mark. It also grinds when you shift at higher RPMs. Any ideas?

Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

The idle isn't rough or anything, it just has a very light weight misfire that turns into bucking at higher rpms.

Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

There's still a misfire at idle, and it has stalled at idle on occasion; It's not very noticeable unless you have your hand on the shifter. Another thing to note is the PS Pump seems to go back and...

Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

Thanks for the replies, you guys! To answer an earlier question I changed my plug wires as well so that shouldn't be the root of the problem.

I had my timing belt done recently and the mechanic...

Re: 1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load

Is the seating easily replaceable, or do I have to start pulling the engine apart starting with the valve cover? Also, what causes this misfire? Is it a loss of compression due to an air leak?

1996 2.3 Engine Bucking under load
