thanks for your comments. will try the checks you suggested. have been parking on level ground and this issue is something I can live with. parking on an incline does not seem to affect my Honda....

engine will not start if parked on incline
will not start if backed up an incline and parked for a few days. engine seems to be flooded. have no problem if parked on level ground. what would cause this? could gasoline seep down into engine...
