Yeah I found this the other day after doing an oil change on my buddies lift. Welded up the crack and reinforced it the next day.

Here was my fix for my 1999 4.0 4x4. Had blinking 4x4 light one time as well. Had to service my shift motor on the transfer case.

Disconnecting the battery did not solve it. And the o2 code has been on forever.
