Re: '90 Fuel Problem. Maybe? 2.3

Yeah, I suppose checking on the pump makes sense. If you have the fuel line disconnected and cycle the key and aren't really getting fuel out, it may well be the pump. It wouldn't be a bad idea to...

Re: '90 Fuel Problem. Maybe? 2.3

If you suspect a fuel problem, try and listen when you turn the key to the on position to see if the fuel pump is running. If it is, try and get a hold of a fuel pressure gauge and check your fuel...

Re: My new 05 xlt

Wouldn't mind the 06 mirrors, but I kind of like the older style small emblems. I definitely wouldn't mind adding cruise control at some point

Re: My new 05 xlt

Thank you! I don't have anything crazy planned for it right now. I do have a set of explorer wheels in the back yard that may find there way on there when it needs tires, and I have toyed with the...

Re: Potential engine swap - would it work?

It MAY be possible to swap a 3.0 duratec into a ranger, but I would be very surprised if you found anyone who attempted it or was successful. To my knowledge, the duratec was only offered in a...

Re: oil change fu#k up

I haven't ever left a drain plug out, but here is an embarrassing story for your amusement. A couple of years ago I owned a cadillac, and had to replace the radiatior on said cadillac. On one side of...

My new 05 xlt

I would like to start this off by apologizing. The truth is, I have had this truck an entire month and haven't bothered taking any pictures of it until now! How selfish of me. I know that the only...

Re: Found this in my fender liner, what is it?

Weird. Is it metal or plastic? Rigid or flexible? If I had to guess I would maybe think it was some kind of PDR tool.

Re: Selling my Ranger

Nice mustang OP. Fwiw, there are aftermarket options to do away with the cam phasers and VCT system if you want to go down that road. Look up cam phaser eliminator kits.

Re: Transmission oil change

It is hard for me to believe that an auto equipped truck made it to 224k without the trans fluid being changed without a catastrophic failure or at least some issues. OP, is your truck a manual or...

Re: Im torn 4wd vs 2wd

Hello and welcome to the forum. In your case, I would definitely say get a 4wd. I have a 2wd, and it is a great fair weather truck, but it can be a hassle in snow. For where you plan to use it, 4wd...

Re: A/C Problems

Just curious, do you have manifold gauges? If so, what is your high pressure side doing? If I had to guess, I would say that your ac system wasn't likely overcharged, and you may want to look at a...

Re: Gas milage

In the end, the biggest factor for fuel economy is the driver. I know I can get better mileage in my truck than I normally do, but my driving style doesn't normally lend itself to good gas mileage.

Re: Gas milage

I got about 24 on the last tank I checked, that was about 80/20 highway/city. I would say that they are very good engines based on my experience with it. Mine is at 185k and the engine has never...

Re: I'm stumped on this overheating problem!!!

Sorry about your new truck. First thing I would check is your oil. Is it clean and clear, or is there coolant in there? If there is coolant in your oil, you are most likely looking at failed head...

Re: 2012 Ranger impressions/rant

I think what he means to say is that while most of us appreciate the Ranger for its simplicity and "80's" tech, we are a very small subset of vehicle buyers. Many potential buyers looked at it, then...

Re: money spent on ranger repairs the last 15 yrs.... and what i've had done.

I cringe every time I hear the term "millennial". Maybe it is all of the things that the word millennial signifies, and the fact that I fall into that age range. I certainly don't fit the...

Re: Whats the most you've hauled/pulled with your ranger?

Nice. Yeah, I suppose 4wd would be helpful there. I'm pretty sure if I tried to drag that boat up a wet, slippery boat launch in my truck, it may wind up in the drink.

Re: Whats the most you've hauled/pulled with your ranger?

Wow. That is a pretty big boat for a ranger. Were you just towing it, or did you launch it and retrieve it from the water with your truck?

Re: Mazda frame issue

I don't have any specific information on this, but I find it somewhat doubtful that mazda was cranking out ranger frames for ford recently.

The reason I say that is because of tooling. The amount...

Re: 2012 Ranger impressions/rant

I wish more companies would adopt having cruise control set up like this. Anybody driven a hyundai sonata or honda accord lately? They have a light in the ic to tell you if your headlights are on....
