A same year or newer motor is gonna be a bit more pricey for the year only. I'm more concerned with the condition.

Just bought a 2002 3.0 ranger with a spun bearing. While looking for a motor for it I came across many posts that said it interchanges with basically every other 3.0 v6. I know the Taurus or windstar...

The yards check compression and oil pressure. As far as pick n pull its tough to check either of those. I only paid 400 for the truck.

I guess prices are a little steeper in Florida. They go for about 5-600 here from a yard. I'm gonna call around tomorrow to check a couple places closer to me.

If I go the used route it will probably be through LKQ. I work at a shop so I should be able to get a better deal. My concern is that I also don't know what kind of condition my motor was in before...

I can probably do just the head gasket for under $150. But if I was to do the head gasket I would also do a water pump oil pump and timing belt. So figure about $300 in. Local yards list the motors...

New to the forum and to rangers. I just bought myself a 97 scsb to use as my daily so I can leave my cummins hooked to my trailer. It has 240k on the clock and a blown head gasket (mixed fluids)....
