Re: Ford is intentionally delaying airbag recall

From what I read even replacement air bags will need to be replaced as there hasn't complete testing of new propellant.

Re: How to replace dash lights (very detailed)

I used the one in the how to section to remove my cluster. Worked for me.

Chris tackles the cluster in a very basic way. Some people who watch his videos probably don't even own the tools yet.

Re: engine oil cooler mod?

How many miles on the truck? Seems to me you have excessive blow by.

Re: How to replace dash lights (very detailed)

Chris, like everyone said, great job.
For the gear selector, there are 2 clips that hold it in the gauge cluster. I thought it was easier to remove it from there when I pulled the cluster from our...

Re: 86 2.3 Compression test

After you crank the engine over a few times, you can get out and go look at the gauge. If it leaks down, then you may need a helper to see what the peak compression is. you can use a camera or some...

Re: Catalytic converters

No. You need a shop that does after market tuning.
Most mechanics can set points, carbs and timing, very few know their way around an ecm.

Re: Catalytic converters

The rear O2 sensors are only reading the LTFT's. Since the exhaust is going to have more unburned gases going through without the cats, the O2's will see this. Engine management is done by the front...

Re: Ford made first production turbo in a truck

I'm not here trying to fool anyone. This isn't a secret
You know the casting plant is torn down right? The Cleveland engine plant 2 is gone too?
Are you in manufacturing or work at a dealership?

Re: Catalytic converters

You can't be a 4.0beast with cats. Cut them off. Trucks going to smell a little more without them. If you can get someone to tune the truck, you can remove the inspection for the rear O2's so the...

Re: Ford made first production turbo in a truck

No, I mean 3.0. The 3.5 is a D35, or Duratec. The 3.5 is also the 3.7 seen in Lincolns and Mazda. The 3.7 does not get turbo charging.
It started as iVct. Then move to Tivct. The to GTDi.

The...

Re: Ford made first production turbo in a truck

Ford has the new 2.7 and 3.0 V6's coming out with turbo charging. In 3 years time, it will be mainstream.

Re: Always Burning the Clutch????? Duratec question

Try this test.
Shifting from 1st to 2nd, just push the clutch in and roll, foot off the gas pedal. Observe the actual rpm's, and the time in seconds on how long it takes to drop the rpm's to idle,...

Re: how many miles should i be able to drive?

I thought this was a good decision. Only since I'm an engineer and I like to test things, I would fill it at 100 miles, then again at 200 miles. The avg of those two fill ups will give you better...

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread III

Re: Ok Whats wrong with my truck?

If you test on the terminals only, then you will get actual battery voltage.
if you are testing on the cables, you are measuring voltage as it passes through the truck.
Connect the cables to the...

Re: What would you do

Looks to me he wants to trade it for a large truck. With that many miles in Wisconsin winters, i would expect for parts to have been replaced. If he has receipts, look at them. I have receipts for...

Re: Banjo bolt leaking fluid

Try a different brand of washers. I have in the past had problems with some crush washers.
Are you using a torque wrench?

Re: ranger starts up fine cold but wont start after warmed up

I would do a compression check. It almost sounds to me that the valves may be worn.

Re: 2003 Ranger Edge

I would want to know what gear is in this truck.
We had an '07 escape with the 2.5 4 cylinder. We were able to pull our 1000 lb camping trailer. Seems likely that 3.0 can easily pull less than the...
