Re: See ya Later, Ford Ranger World

Well, not surprised at the huge backlash and subsequent defense of Ford and its "best engines and vehicles."

Yeah, not according to independent testing. Consumer reports put Toyota near the top,...

See ya Later, Ford Ranger World

Done.

Nearly $3000 in repairs. Babied it. Kept trying to get it right, always went wrong... Now, the ol '99 is going most likely to a junkyard.

You will all hate me for saying this, but I don't...

Re: Good Deal or not on 99 Ranger

Well, the only part of the above I disagree with is the resale. There's a lot of mileage on that truck, and improvements are only worth it if you plan to DRIVE the thing. If you're a mechanic who...

Re: Good Deal or not on 99 Ranger

I always say any running and driving car/truck is worth at least 1200 bucks. If the frame cracks, you could trash it for about $400 or part it out for a little more. The financial risk is very low...

Re: NW corner of CT meet

Yup. I'd be in. Put me in the "Resurrected Ranger" category.

Live in Central CT, I like going up to Litchfield County.

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!

Actually, it feels quite good to expose the general cowardice of people who mouth off from behind the shadow of a computer screen, as if they would even remotely consider saying such a thing to...

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!

Yeah, knew someone would go for that. Scour the web for an isolated incident related to broken suspension parts of any kind, on any vehicle, in an attempt to suggest that there is some sort of mass...

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!

Thank you for the real-life example. Somehow you survived to tell the tale!

Yes, it is a nice little house truck. But yeah OP, definitely replace those shackles when you can, ya hear?

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!

Wow... some people really need to masturbate more... might settle 'em down a bit.

Please, share with me the many tales of the thousands that have died in massive automotive wrecks directly...

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!

Yeah... a rear shackle breaks, causing a truck to spin out of control wildly, crashing into a gas station, causing a giant explosion that kills thousands.

Meanwhile, the bed was filled with...

Re: I bought my first Ranger today!

Would you like a hand so you can get down from your high horse? "You shouldn't own a vehicle." Douchebag much?

Reality check: things cost money. And if you're not a home mechanic, $100 in parts...

I gave the bedliner a good scrub for Chanukah. Does that count?

Re: New Ranger

Well, it sounds electrical. Those kinda problems can be cheap to fix but hard to solve... A relay here, a fuse there, a frayed wire somewhere else...

$2700 for a manual 4.0 that needs a little...

Re: Leaning

Yeah, now it's sounding like a squashed rear shackle or something. Not a huge issue if that turns out to be the case... A pair of shackles are like $30 each, and a pair of hangers are like $20 each....

I like how this innocent question turned into an argument over what constitutes the "left" or "right" side of a car...

Pardon the social commentary... couldn't help it.

Re: 2009 4x4 Ranger Prerunner

Turns out this guy wasn't so crazy after all.

21k firm turned into 18k obo when there were no takers on 21k.

Two of my personal favorite proverbs apply to this situation.

"Everything in life...

$5200 for a quarter-century old Ranger which needs work.

The person who buys it for that price also "needs work."

Re: Snow Tires or not

Yeah, think about it this way. Plenty of folks in high elevation areas put studded tires or snow tires on their Kia Spectras and Honda Civics... and while those cars won't be setting any land speed...

Re: 1998 Ranger 3.0 4x4

I have me this 12 gauge shotgun. But what I could really use is a really swell water pistol... is there a conversion kit for that?
