what kind of mpg are you getting? let me know the engine size and percentage of city and highway driving. I get 21 mpg with the 2.5L and that is about 20% city 80% highway.

I never use a gasket just RTV. I would let it set up a little bit before adding the gear oil. Hand tight let it sit for a few minutes then tighten to torque spec.
