302 bolt on to 3.0 transmission

I have a 2000 ranger 4x4 that just has alot of miles on her. Its a 3.0 and i was just wondering if a 302 (5.0) would bolt up to my 3.0 tranny. And if 4x4 would hold up if i didnt mash it down alot....
