I had what i believe was an 11 inch magnaflow SI/SO and it was a huge difference over the stock muffler (given i have a 4L) but today i just took the muffler completely off and i dont mind the sound...

i shouldnt have said ticking...its more of a crackle

it sounds like there is, well at one point someone said carbon build up on the spark plugs but those were changed a while back. its a crackle,...

Exclamation Ticking under acceleration

Hey everyone this is my first post on this amazing site

now to the problem

2002 FX4 in between about 2500 and 3500 rpm in any gear (acceleration) i get a ticking crackling noise from the engine...
