I don't think too many posters here have a Digital SLR.
I do have one, but most of my pics (including the one time I won this contest) are shot with a small camera that fits in my pocket so I am ready when I need a quick pic...

All that can be achieved without a expensive camera.

Yes. The first building on the left.

A nice camera doesn't make the photographer.
Think about the guy who breaks a wrist and asks his doctor: "Doctor, will I be able to play the piano after this heals?" The doctor replies "Absolutely, no problem!" The man laughs, and points out that's great, because he never could play the piano before!

Just about any camera, regardless of how good or bad it is, can be used. The quality of a lens or camera has almost nothing do with the quality of the photos it can be used to produce.

sure it does, the 3.2 megapixel camera on my blackberry cant come close to my 6mp cybershot, or my 8mp Konica

True, but weather using a cell phone or a DSLR.

The person using it decides the setting for the shot, the angle of the shot, subject matter, composition, right time of the day for good lighting.
