Default 1999 Big Red: Ironman turbo build

First off, the build can be found more in depth here: http://www.turborangerforums.com/showthread.php?t=5869

I decided to finally make the project log for my truck because I want to start tracking my progress as the time for building gets closer... I know it has been a while and I've hit every pothole along the way however I'm gonna make this now and start getting to it. Plans as of RIGHT NOW are to bring the truck back down and get a better clutch in it before I start massacring it. Current mileage is 163,500 and she's gonna be getting a 2.3 crank and TC inerds. Sounds about right. You know all the other stuff that goes with the build obv. Gonna buy a welder before I start building though. So this thread might be slow for a little while... Still gonna try and do work though! Power goals are currently undecided, but preferred setup would be an OK sized turbo (not big) for low end boost and power, use of the M50D with confidence, and ease of driving. This is still a DD and I don't have another car like I used to in case sh*t hits the fan.

Questions comments and whatnot go for it.

I can be more easily found on FB and Twitter. PM for that info.

I know I am not a frequent on this forum. I'm much more frequently on TRF, so hello to those of you that are over there as well! Well... Already have an E6 manifold and lots of tools that I will need for the build. I shall be starting the actual engine building later this summer, but also doing some suspension work before the engine work as well... 2wd and a lift is kind of pointless now that I don't really take the truck through some severe off road territory anymore, so I decided I'm going to lower it. Haven't decided yet, aiming for somewhere between 3" to 7" front and rear. That's my range... It will be daily driven for a while before I invest in a new daily driver somewhere in the next few years so I can strip this out to be a track truck.

Recent news: Got a baseline 1/4 mile time. Full tank of gas, 120 pounds of recovery and tool kits in the back, HEAVY audio system, my not exactly athletic self, and a lift with big tires (hurting accel) it ran 18.97 in its best pass.

My power goals are 200+ but I will be shooting for 300 when I get all of the parts together and get a welder. Will keep posted as best I can remember.

Got the turbomanifold in the mail

Needs cleaning up, but it's hardware either way.

Think I might take my chances with an eBay turbo if I can't find an IHI off of a turbocoupe or a T3 that's internally gated... Also, where's the best place to buy a walbro 255 FP does anyone know? I'm gonna need a better sending unit for the 42lb injectors that I believe I am going to be using. Thanks

Haha why are the black things in your engine so much cleaner than the rest?!

Lol that's just what I was cleaning at the time. The underside of the hood is a pain because I had my power steering pump explode a couple years back so that's basically screwed lol. It's just a random pic I found of the engine bay that was clear and not blurry. Haha. Better than everything dirty!

Thanks. That kind of power you can make with a T3 and 42lb injectors if you really want. I have a daily driver as well so most of the building will happen all very quickly. Nice to have a follower. any questions about it just throw them out there bud. Or if you have any more advanced questions try TurboRangerForums.com. I have a more detailed project log over there too. :thanks:

I thought about it, but I think I'm gonna try using what I already have, unless I find a doner 88 turbo coupe. It's just a lot of extra work haha. It has crossed my mind though. Might help wake it up more!

lol, that's still a ways off, it's a 94 with 126k on it, it's going to get an internal rebuild before i put that power through it. it needs some TLC before it sees anything beyond stock
