Just switch to non pulse vacuum hubs. Mines got em. Their considered a live axle and are always engaged. Significantly cheaper that pvhs though I'm not sure how much manual ones are. It is really nice not to have to get out to lock em. Specially when it's below -20C.

Vicious circle with this truck.......

This is fixed, that is broke.

Hope you get to enjoy it some....and not have to get stressed daily about fixing something! Sucks when that happens.....

Your bank account doesn't care the "reason" - when it's bleeding out.

I think you can leave them locked all the time, you'll get worse mpg if I recall correctly. And might as well keep it. You can always sell it later

Yeah I know. My dad just wants to keep throwing my money into it. He won't let me sell but I have to pay for the fixing.

Well I was thinking getting the manual locking hubs that are $120 on Amazon (rugged ridge) and just leaving them locked all the time so that I don't have to get out and lock em when I need 4x4.

I have the manual locking avm hubs on my red ranger. Trust me..only lock them when you need it. You can leave them locked in the winter...but in the summer unlock them when you dont need it. Like driving on the interstate...etc.

What's so bad with leaving them locked?

Its just excess wear on the axles..
And if youre going 65+ on the highway its just best to have them unlocked.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I'll probably leave them locked during winter and then unlock during the summer. I'll just lock it before I go on fishing/camping trips.

Is this install pretty accurate? If so I think I can handle it.

I mean it has its benefits, its basically a new truck with all the repairs done to it. lol.
the ONLY reason I replaced my pvh hubs was because I was going through a set of hub bearings a year (cheap 1AAuto hubs) and took the opportunity to go live axle the last time. Everything worked and the 4x4 engaged everytime.

If I do mainly city driving in the winter do you think I will have problems leaving them engaged all winter?

You shouldn't have to remove the tire iirc. Just remove the hubcap and you should have enough room
