i never had an issue with mine....
From what i read its a hit and miss...there are 3 guys on the FB with 01-03 that are having issues right now. One is debating doing a 5.0 swap.

I love the front end of the 04+ but its hard to find one in my price range. Im definitely not getting a 3.0 unless I can find one extremely clean with extremely low miles for a good price. I'm also not limiting myself to rangers. I will look at cars also.

Thanks Glenn. I would take you up on the repair if I had another vehicle to use in the mean time. Also my dad feels like a shop should do every little thing. He gets extremely mad when I mod because he feels a shop should do it.

I have an 05 and i can hear my chains on cold starts. I still have to replace the front tensioner though. If you do any repairs to it, fix the HG and radiator. Heater core only really needs to be fixed if its leaking. With it giving you this much trouble at such low mileage it would be best to get rid of it while you can and get you something, possibly a little newer, thats reliable.

Well heater core needs to be fixed because the heater will not blow heat and I kinda need that in -30 degree days like today. Wont defrost or anything. It was a long drive to the shop today, to say the least.

And the shop said it was completely shot. Not like a leak or anything but completely nonfunctional.
