| | UK Double Cab Home Project - Fairy to Lairy :-P
Well i thought its time to start working on the truck, am sick and tired of looking at its stupid little face and hits wimpy little tires crappy decals.......
SO
I decided to start spending money on it, ripping bits off, and sticking bits on
My aim is to go from a nice ordinary Double Cab to something with a bit of attitude that i can still use every day and have fun with, I'm not out to build a monster truck, or compete with some of the trucks here because some of your trucks are way out of my league, this is just something that i want to stand out from some of the other trucks here and give it a theme/identity
The Starting block is a 2006 Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.5Td XLT Double Cab, what you see in the first pic is how it all started and this is exactly how it came out of the box....
First this is how i picked it up a few months ago, stock twin rollbars, roller locker back, all the windows clear with zero tints.
The first thing i did was to take the roll bars off and the roller locker as A I don't like it as its to flashy i need to space in the back for my dog cage, i also bought an SJS hard top for winter to store my stuff in, its color coded and looks pretty good if i do say so myself!!
Stock truck:
Removed the roll bars and roller locker on the back window and cut the ladder rack off then angle ground them right down then rust treated them.
The back was fitted for winter while i had the front windows tinted
Next i took off the sjs rear to start work on it for the next few months,
Window tints went in on the sides, 30% tints to keep the glare out and give it a more moody look:
To get it looking darker i decided to black out the rear window with limo tint, its jet black and really made a HUGE difference to the over all look
We popped it out, was suprised just how easy it was to remove actually!!!
Getting worked on:

This is the window getting finished:
Then after much research going forwards and backwards trying to decide if to go for 32's or 31's Kumho or BFG....there really was only one choice
I went for the BFG's in 31/10.5/15 they came the same day as the rear tint was put in, so it changed a lot in 24hrs!
Nice stock tires!!
New ones in bed....looking very meaty, for anyone in the uk wanting to do this all i can say is the BFG KM2's fit PERFECT, when i say perfect i mean that when turning the wheels they cleared the front bumper bracket by about 1mm!!!!!
and the rear mud guard by about 1mm too, so its VERY VERY close.
Rim size is 15x7
The truck on the drive with new tires on looking meaty, also you can see the effect of the blacked out window to
The Wheel clearance:
So there we have it.....
This is how it stands at the moment
Next I will be ripping off all the decals and getting a load of custom made ones made up with a "theme" should change the over all look of the truck.
Was going to go for wheel spacers to but decided i like it as its stands.
Torsion bars will be cranked too too, will do that soon, will keep posting updates in the next few weeks but so far i really happy with the results.

Wish I had a four door! Looks good. I wasn't crazy about the nerf bars either. Good choices on everything so far.

Cheers guys, just need to crank the bars at the front about 1" - 1.5" don't want to go to drastic.
The decals are being made up for me by a friend who runs his own sign writing company.
All the wildtrak decals on the side are coming off, and the one on the tailgate.
I will be ordering some black FORD badges, and removing the blue ones so its all black.
What i have planned is going to be a love it or hate it theme, its only decals so can be removed :-)
I'll give it a go, and if it looks shit then I'll just get him to whip me up some new Wildtrak XLT stuff.

Thanks man, I've changed all the orange bulbs to chrome too and got LED sidelights just waiting on the plate lights and interior ones now.
Can't wait to raise the front and get decals

Hiya Sam , got them for £115 a corner, local tyre shop fitted them for £40, but damaged all my f@@@ing alloys in the process!!
Got them from Camskill were the cheapest i could find and only £10 delivery
Just did the torsion bar crank was 33.5" from floor to bottom of the front arch and is now 35" god what a nightmare that is!!! fiddling about with those bolts!

Might get some spare mirrors and get them color coded, not keen on all the chrome to be honest

Does the ranger cruise better at speed with the larger tyres? These rangers are very low geared so I'm hoping fitting bigger tyres will higher the gear ratio and make it a bit more comfortable when driving over 60mph.

Yea Sam it does cruise much better actually, before on stick sizes I was about 7mph out!!
Now I'm about 3mph out so that's much better, I get a little hum on the roads above 40mph but it's not bad at all to be honest from a MT tire.
All in all I'm well chuffed.
Gonna get the alignment done tomorrow.
Not gonna go for the in your face decals I had earlier wanted to, gonna go for a meaty approach ;-)
