Ordered a new head gasket for the v8. Hoping a nice flush and gasket will cure it.

Girlfriends grandma gave me her 01 Acura TL (bought a 2015), replaced all the brake lines and already have offers for it so now I'm a little more confident with my play money and am back on the forced induction mind set once this thing is fixed/replaced

So far in my research the best set up for my needs would be a turbonetics 62-1 w/ a .81 a/r.... 93~ below Mustang guys are typically running these at 10psi and getting 400-450HP which is way more than enough, actually too much... I'll probably run closer to safe6 but no more than 8psi. With that it should be pushing a solid 350HP, with 300 being my goal I can't complain.
Complains will probably be the reality of this though... The 5.0 motor & assembly is going to literally take up the entire engine bay, so I may have to find somewhere else, most likely under the bed :/ not really preferred imo. I'll probably loose power there from radial heat just running the intake that far under the vehicle.

yes it does! It feels like it's towering over the other vehicles in the driveway! It's officially taller than me haha.

I've decided to order 1" wheel spacers. The are Bullit and Hubcentric. I'm not too worried about them because I don't off-road that much if at all.
The spacers should help with the tires rubbing at (almost) full lock and will also slightly aid in the raised center of gravity.

The AAL won't arrive until Monday morning, but I won't have time to get them in until the following Thursday.

I found a stock bumper valence with fog lights that I would like to install on the truck. They are factory so they will keep the truck looking like it came off the lot with them. This might not happen until this summer maybe even fall. I'd prefer to get the v8 installed as well as full exhaust and cai TUNED. $$$$

Still, I am proud of my progress. It's definitely turning in to the beast I imagined years ago when I got it

So I've pretty much scoped out what's ahead for the ranger. For the next year or two I will be acquiring, modifying, and installing a variety of performance upgrades for my 5.0 (after installation). Using only mild research I have developed a list, with minor explanation and expectation.. These are all mods to achieve my 300 horsepower (crank) goal. If you find that something on the list could be improved, an explanation isn't clear, or my expectations void, PLEASE voice your suggestion, backed up with either research or preferably personal experience, or just suggest away! There's always a better way to do something!....

The list follows as.....

MAC Cold Air Intake-
Through some time spent lingering on the explorer forums, I have found that a lot of 5.0 owners are strong supporters of MAC products for their quality and true efficiency. MAC produced gains of 14.4 horsepower on an assumed stock 5.0 explorer. I am expecting at least 10 Horsepower

70mm Throttle Body-
While I was studying intakes on the explorer forums i noted that a vast majority of explorer owners run a 70mm TB over the stock 65mm, it's about as common as the throttle cable mod. This mod had no listed gains except that it enhances other mods. Once properly tuned, this mod should net around 10 extra Horsepower when all mods are equipped.

Port and Polish Intake (Upper and Lower) and Head-
This is practically standard procedure for all the mustang guys once they get their hands on explorer gt40 heads (I have these). I don't think I have to explain this much as it's just for improved air flow. Like the TB mod, this is an enhancing mod that nets no real power figures alone. I expect this mod to free up an additional 3-5 Horsepower

Electric Fan-
E-Fan to reduce engine bay noise as well as remove some strain off the pulleys in a minor attempt to free up power. This mod could give me 0 gains except piece of mind and less Mack Truck sound. If any gains I expect no more than 2 Horsepower

Upgraded Radiator & Transmission Cooler-
I have done very minor research on these mods. These are just precautionary mods to ensure the engine and transmission are running at optimum temperatures despite the increased power. Expected gains: 0 Horsepower 50 piece of mind

Torque Monster Headers-
Do I really need to explain? These are the proven best headers for the 5.0 explorer application. Providing gains of up to 20~ horsepower and 40~ Torque. I'm expecting 20-25 Horsepower when tuned in

Custom True-Dual Exhaust-
I have had a decent amount of luck in my experience with drawing up exhaust designs. My
Current exhaust actually made a decent amount of power for what it was especially considering I drew it myself. From the torque monster headers I plan on running the stock CATS and O2 sensors, after the last CAT on each side they will meet inside a 2.5" Dual-In Flowmaster 70 Series (I'm building a somewhat sleeper btw) 2.5" Dual-Out gradually angled outward on both sides until the last angle (which will be steeper) in to 3"x8-10" chrome rolled tips before the rear wheels. Alone the exhaust would probably free up 5 horsepower based on similar mustang setups. Tuned in I'm expecting around 8 Horsepower

Last but not least (Very much the opposite)....

SCT Tuner-
I haven't quite decided exactly which tuner I want. There are quite a few options between the x3 and x4. I do believe that SCT offers pre-loaded tunes that can compensate for mods like cold air intakes and exhausts, but I believe since I'm certain that due to the 70mm TB and the Torque Monster Headers that those pre loaded tunes won't be anywhere as effective as a custom dyno'd tune (or 3!). I'd like to get 3 custom tunes; A 87 Performance, 91 Tow, and 91 Performance
The numbers I have written down as expected are based on the 91 Performance Tune, obviously those numbers are guesstimates and can and will change depending on tune and other outside factors. Assuming my numbers are near correct id expect around 60 gained Horsepower, bringing me within arms reach of my goal at 275 Horsepower. Torque is something I did not accommodate for but can be safely assumed to be upwards of 350lbs/ft (91 Tow), plenty to roll my 33's and a decently weighted trailer or my jetski

My "luxury/leisure" idea has enhanced a tad more. Like I've said before I'd like to make my truck the "Lincoln" of rangers, this time I've though maybe a tad too far.. Hear me out, this is concept stage right now.

So I tried to see what Lincoln would have called the ranger if it ever fell under its belt and I was tongue twisted. Nothing really made sense, between navigator, aviator and Mark lt alone, I could not find a fitting "travel" themed name. So I decided to pair up the explorer (aviator) and the ranger, like they were for years built on the same frame ect. Yes.. The aviator was on the next gem explorer that did not share similar features to the ranger, but bare with me. Using the truck name Mark "LT" and the assumed name aviator for explorer, I combined the two in to what I think is an appropriate name for the Lincoln model Ranger......

The (Aviator LT)!!! Woo!

After I decided on a concept name, I decided to find a detailed list of specs and features for both the highest package explorer (95-01) and Lincoln aviator (01-05) and tried find the happy medium of both generation vehicles. In this stage I found that my 5.0 swap could be an even more believable concept for the Aviator LT (Lincoln ranger) due to the fact that most Lincoln vehicles came with faster, sometimes larger, engines that the equivalent Ford model did not come available with. Most recent example would be the 15 escapes vs mkc. Largest ford option being the 2.0eco vs the Lincoln model offering the mustang 2.3eco.
The rest of the luxuries Lincoln offered in the aviator I backtracked to the time period of my truck aka 2000. This is where I reasoned out some of the unrealistic options. By cross-referencing the two I could weigh out options like traction and stability control, but also uphold to the leather power seat options that came in my era.
My motortrend description spec sheet follows as:

Performance
5.0L V8 OHV(270HP @ 4000RPM, 325FT/LB TQ @ 1900RPM)

Notice the powerdome hood on the red ranger. I am getting one in the next week. I feel like it takes some of the attention away from the attention-seeking grill and lights. Giving it a more badass look without looking extra "glossy". In my opinion a better "paint to chrome ratio"

Poor concept image(s)
Wheels are wrong spoke but I got carried away the other day. Lol
Here's the grill with a shitty version of my bumper and a Lincoln emblem slapped somewhat in the middle. If I had photoshop I would do a much better job

I've seen one picture of a Ranger online that had a steering wheel from a Lincoln in it. It had the logo and everything. I'm not sure what vehicle the wheel came out of, but just a suggestion to look into!

I like where this is going. I'm a huge fan of OEM+ and this is looking exactly that.
