I think you mean you trans is a M5OD-R2? 5 speed manual out of 150s with older straight 6 and 302 then also in the newer 97+ 150

I'm finishing up this same swap yes I have the M5OD2 in my ranger. I'm asking if the OP used the stock ranger cross member . The pics look that way to me but hard to tell. Looking at my own it does not appear to have enough room to mount sufficient rubber between the member and the tranny. So I was curious as to what lifedigers solution was

I used a plasma cutter and sliced the top off and shortened it then rewelded it back on.

Sorry to drag this thread out...

I am having an issue and while doing research, I found your swap and surprisingly I have a 2000 ranger extended cab that was a 3.0L flex. I have the 5L in it now, 3" body lift and 33s m5od-r2 and electric shift bw4406. I have been driving it for several months, but just realized a few days ago that my reverse lights don't work and my 4wd won't shift.

The reverse lights I discovered by mistake. Did you just wire in the reverse light connector to pins 9 and 11 on the old DTR to fix that?

The 4WD, it won't shift. Did you have to make any changes to the wiring to get it to work? I cut the ranger side and wired in the connector from the 4406. I believe I did it correctly. I found out after I could have swapped the motor from the ranger transfer case. I am not sure if this is an electrical problem or a shift motor issue. Any thoughts here?

Any help is appreciated!

Edit: Just found this for troubleshooting the shift motor. http://ylobronc.users.superford.org/...6/elec1356.htm

the shift motors are the same but mine is still working perfectly almost 2 years later, i wouldn't have minded going with a manual shift tcase but so far it works good. I finally got to replacing the stock ranger axles with the bigger ones out of the explorer and dropped my gear ratio from a 4:10 to the 3:73 LSD and i love it. the explorer axle is a little wider in the rear which improves stability especially since i don't have a lift on the truck.

I figured it out, it was the shift motor. It still won't go into 4Lo, but I am not concerned about that. Everything else is working as it should.

Looking at your sig, oddly enough, my ranger is basically the same as yours and we (my wife and I) have a 2011 TDI Jetta.

I need to find a good exhaust shop to do a custom job for me. I hate the stock headers and the guy that did my exhaust ran it too close to the frame and it is tapping the frame constantly. VERY annoying.

Resurrecting my post. After all these years the body on my 2000 was beat pretty bad and I found a nice deal on Craigslist for a 99 with a 3.slow in it that had a bad head gasket. So 650 bucks later I was doing another v-8 swap. Took me two days. I came back to this post for a few pieces of advice and some memories but I still have a problem I need advice on. Air Conditioning. How, I studied the wiring diagrams for both vehicles and can't get it right. The compressor comes on then instantly shuts back off. Over and over. Click click, click click. Never gets cold air. Feel free to offer some advice or share some links. And I'll put some fresh pics on.

Food for thought, the compressor will come on then automatically shut off if it doesn't have enough coolant supplied in the line. I could be wrong but when I did mine after the swap I think it was around 80 lbs, but it has been a good while so I could actually be way off. I would take it to any shop that does AC and simply have them check the pressure.

Another potential issue could be the connector piece at the radiator. The plugs look and connect the same, but one side has to be rewired to match. Disconnect and take a look at that plug from the AC line (short and round with 4 pins in it). You may be able to tell pretty quickly as there was a pin lining up with a slot without a pin in the other. All you do is just repin it there and you should be good if this wasn't already done.

I know this might a stretch, but do you remember the body types of the F-350 and the F-150 that you pulled your drive shafts from? Or are some models the same that I could grab one off of?

So with a new relay in line with the signal wire for the ac before it went to the WOT cutoff I successfully changed a normally open circuit to a normally closed one and fixed my compressor cycling problem and now have full AC
