Default Ian's '93 302 Ranger Build

I purchased my truck on October 9th, 2012 from a guy in Toledo, Ohio. The truck is a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT 2wd Single Cab with the short bed. The truck was originally a 2.3L 5spd, but the previous owner swapped in a 5.0L out of an early to mid-80s F150 or Crown Vic/Grand Marquis. He also swapped in a T-5 5spd manual out of a Mustang. After he finished the swap, he was no longer able to drive due to medical conditions. It sat in a back yard for close to 9 months before I got it. It's a Florida truck, so there is no rust in the wheel wells or rocker panels. There is one patch of rust a bit larger than a quarter under the rear window on the driver's side.

Here are a few pictures from the day I bought the truck. Oh, and my Tahoe was right next to it in the first picture of the Ranger. I sold the Tahoe right after I bought the Ranger. It had some 32x11.5" BFG Mud Terrains, 3" body lift, Flowmaster Super 44s, and two 15" Kicker CVRs powered by a Rockford Fosgate amp. Cool set up. Just a slug, and I bleed blue. I got the Tahoe off of a trade for my 1974 VW Baja Beetle. I needed a 302 Ranger. Here's a picture of the Tahoe.

I worked out a few bugs that I had in the truck because of how long it sat. I put a new alternator in it, new clutch slave cylinder (PITA to bleed completely), and took off my mud flaps.

After I washed it, I took it out to the railroad tracks behind my house during "the golden hour" of light and took a few pictures. My dad is a professional photographer and shoots with Canon products, but I couldn't get my hands on his camera that day. So here's some iPod pictures. I want a DSLR camera. Bad.

Blew my power steering pump. And my engine is making new noises and rattles more every day. So it's either buying a Mustang or Explorer/Mountaineer motor and swapping or buying a new truck all together and swapping in a 5.0 and doing it the right way. I might buy a Miata for the time being.

Before you pull the motor, can you take some pics of the valve cover/heater box area? Mine has a body lift to get them to clear each other, but I would like to see how yours is done.

Also, I'm interested in your valve covers for my 302. That's if you decide to use a different motor.

My heater box is physically cut to fit the valve covers in there.

No on my way back from class this morning. That little rod knock got ridiculous like three miles out from my house and I had to nurse it home. Do you want to buy a roller? There's no rust and the suspension/brakes are great. The transmission is great too and it'll need a clutch in a few thousand miles.

I'm either gonna sell this thing as a roller and use the cash from that and my next paycheck and get an I6 F150 5spd or I'm gonna search for a new motor.

Ok thanks. I don't think I'm ready to try that with mine.

Could rebuild yours as a 347 Stroker.
