Project: Tire Burner (Warning: GM content)
how it started out was my uncle was lookin on craigslist for a transmission he needs for a project he working on and he came across a S10 for $800. its a 1996 SS S10. stock had a 4.3 engine in it, automatic tranny. the guy that was selling it took the motor and tranny out to put in a V8, never got around to putting the V8 in. My uncle called me up and told me to check it out to see if i wanted it to fix it up otherwise we was going to buy it just for the transmission. we went to check out the truck and i decided i wanted to fix it up. its not exactly what i wanted to do, I wanted to find a 2WD ranger and drop in a 5.0 and make it a sleeper. but i couldnt pass this up. The body needs some work, interior needs a good cleaning. onto the pics:
a few exterior pieces are missing but thats fine for right now
Not 100% sure if this is a 350 or a 305. going to try and figure it out for sure tonight. its a 700r$ transmission. going to rip all the Throttle body stuff, and AC stuff off and make it into a carb ran engine. Not too much will be done to the project for awhile cuz im starting a new job and not sure what kinda hours im working and i dont really have a place to do the project. but i am definitely excited to get this going

Re: Project: Tire Burner (Warning: GM content)
neat project, never knew they made an S10 "SS". looks like it's the same color as my monte carlo too
to figure out if the engine is a 305 or a 350, there should be eather a "5.0" or a "5.7" stamped on the block, i think towards the back.
also, you should check into if the trans is really a 700R4 or if it could be a 200R4. i don't know the differance, except the 200R4 is not as bullitproof or as desirable as the 700R4

Re: Project: Tire Burner (Warning: GM content)
Looks like the Engine is eithe rout of a Truck or Van,so probly 350,and the Trans would most likely be a 700R4 if out of a truck or Van. unless you are pulling a laod woth the truck or actually somehow getting it to hookup to the pavement,i dont think u should be worried about what trans it is...lol youll have enough power to burn the tires and too little of weight to hurt the trans.
