Picked up this 2000 Ranger. It's a 4x4 4 door extended cab with a 4.0 5 speed. Bought it from a friend of mine. It's rough, but he gave me a good deal. Plan is to build a nice reliable daily driver that may see a little off road duty.

The guy I bought it from just put in a complete new clutch. It wasn't bled right and didn't drive. So trailered it home..

He also swapped the front end out for a 2002 FX4 grill & hood. More on the FX4 later...

Turned out I ended up with a parts truck in the deal. A 2002 FX4.
First I got the tow hooks.

The truck obviously needed a paint job. I picked up some parts from the salvage yard and Certifit. Wanted the painted Edge front bumper so I had to make the cut outs for the tow hooks.

Pulled the side steps, swapped the tires and cranked the t-bars a little.

I also picked up a regular bed. The front has flares and I prefer the look of the standard bed on a 4x4.

Next stripped all the trim, door handles, mirrors, locks, lights, ect... And headed to my buddys shop.

Where we sanded the entire topside to bare metal. Black Ford paint sucks around 2000. Had lots of cracks on the top of the truck.

Fixed all the dents and got ready to block sand

Was a lot of work. Had some help from a couple good friends and my dad. Paint and body work was all done in 4 days. The rest of the time was just messing with it here and there after work. I got hurt pretty bad on new years. Had a concussion and a small stroke. Ended up in the nuerological ICU for 6 days. Had some time off and used working on the truck as some physical therapy to help get my motor skills back.

The hood was actually the solid bright red. Not Torredor - So you dont have to hate.

Its not done yet. I still have the FX4 parts truck...twin sticks and the torsion diff...Or..I"m seriously thinking V8 swap. If anybody has some Explorer V8 parts for sale, let me know. Especially if your in Colorado.
