Default Brxxxck's 01 XLT 3.0 2wd

This ranger was my first car. My dad got it when it was new and was the dd for him and then in 07 when I got my license he let me use it to go out on the weekends. It was always on schedule with routine maintenance and was never beat since it's only a 2wd.

Most of its now 140k miles are on the highway from first my dad to work on a 45 min commute and myself going to and from college.

The car is now 99% mine after all the years.

And now that I'm a bit older and have developed a few hobbies of my own my truck is probably one of the most important parts of my life.

I am by no means a mechanic, just a 20 something with a basic knowledge of how things work. It's been a slow process but my ranger is slowly making progress to what I need it to be.

The first 'mod' I ever did was pick up this carpet lined cap in hopes of adding more dry storage in the winter time.

I ended up keeping it on because I like the look and secure space.

After having the cap for a bit I took the ranger camping with my girl up in the Santa Cruz mountains (about 2 hours away from the valley)

I put some plywood down to sit on top of the ridges, added some pillows and a few camping basics like bungees first aid kit and a sleeping bad.

Plasti dipped my surround black, and smoked the chrome on both my grille and front and rear bumpers. Then added some cheap fog lights before the fall semester. Just ran some metal between factory holes under the radiator.

Got some of the universal reese bars from Walmart, and then scored some BBQ mesh to run over the top of them. Used it a lot for firewood while camping so I didn't have to put it in the clean shell.

Before going up to Yosemite for my one year anniversary with my girlfriend I picked up a regular bicycle rack for a regular trunk and just flipped the J clips the other way so it grabs the inside of the cap and not the glass. Held up great and was wayyyy cheaper than getting a hitch and hitch mounted rack.

Tried to take some decent pictures of the truck on one oft days off.

This pictures all of the things I'd done to the truck up to this point.

You can also see the DIY wind fairing that I made to reduce wind noise. Worked ok, but ended up taking it off because it was too short and was making me mad.

Discovered that I cracked my grille, and I swapped out for the honeycomb style.
Then added some 4"x4" LED lights I swiped off amazon. Really like them, probably the best mod I've done to my truck. Makes a huge difference on stormy nights out in the sticks.

Added a shortie antenna I was given.

I get all my regular stations clearly, just a bit more custom look.

New tires.
30x9.5x15

I could have done 31s but these rub on my lower valance and I got them for a better price.

Well I got all the prep work done to strip off the thin layer of plasti dip I put over my chrome bumper pieces last year.

Luckily using goo-gone spray works really well a lot better than trying to pick off all those little pieces.

Hopefully after I get everything finished up I'll post some pics.

Can't wait to see what you've got planned for your truck. Looks great man! You should color match your grille like I did, I think it'd look great

Honestly my favorite mod. Led strips under the bedrails to a separate battery and switch in the tailgate.

Makes helping your friends move really nice.
