Default My latest project!

Aside from upgrades to my truck here and there (i will start posting those in this thread now)

I have started my tractor project. (maybe racing, tractor maybe plow rig, maybe full restore as much as possible not sure yet)

Im prettysure its a 1974 model something. i forgot what the freakin letters and number say on the side. its a 3 speed with reverse.

1st step is to get it running. I need a solenoid and a starter which I have-- just not attached (yet)

Ill get some more pics up of what im doing to it tomorrow but right now its just sitting in the back of my truck.

Idk if anyone else is interested in tractors just figured id post it up and see what happens.

Soon to come: fender flare removal, tear off paint under them, replace with bedliner all the way around the truck, paint topper, fix window seals on topper, build roofrack for topper, install shit on roofrack, and make the inside of the topper livable.

^ neat lil project, i've always had a soft spot for old lawn tractors and just old equipment in general. when i was 8 or 9 i brought home an old late '60's jacobson cheif 800 lawn tractor.

had quite a bit of fun with that one, especially when i found out if i loaded rocks under the seat i could do wheelstands out in the street with it untill i blew the differential apart, lol.

traded it last year to a co- worker for an '80 MTD lawnflite that ran and cut well, and i've been tinkering with that a bit, it's one ugly, toady looking macheine but i've never seen another like it

@skylark65 nice tractor! and yeah I just kinda started it as my hobby because ive always liked small engines.. might as well find somethin to do with it. Its wiring is birds nest of shitty old cut up wires so im replacing them all tomorrow.

@Rhodyguy That sounds dangerous

I've got one that I've been working on for a little while. I've done a pulley swap on it, rebuilt the trans axle,engine and carb. In the process now of doing a larger tire mod may have to do another pulley swap after I finish that though. I could do 25mph with the stock tires on it before. I'll look some pics up shortly and post them.

Making mine more of a mudder it's been real fun so far until I started the wheel swap and haven't finished it yet. I've had it in mud/water over the front wheels and splashing over the hood a couple of times. One of my sons has driven it once maybe twice but, he's scared of top gear.....

The mower has an 11 HP Briggs. A pulley swap is basically a regear.

I also have this little toy as well with a top speed of 32mph!

cool, same engine as my MTD. do you use a smaller or larger pully, and is it just the pully on the engine you swap?

Depends on how fast you want to go. I used the pulleys off the mowing deck both 3" on the engine and trans axle to give me my ratio. I just used what I had available though. Truthfully I wouldn't mind it being a little slower but, that's what the 6 speed transmission is for, I just pick a lower gear.
