84 Ram school project

helped a buddy of mine redo his cousins 84 Ram...i have some pictures of the process and figured id put them up for your enjoyment

truck specs

84 Ram Royal SE Prospector
318 4spd with granny low
4x4
145,000 miles

tear down pics

first thing we did was shaved the snaps off the bedsides/tailgate for the tonneau cover and sanded the inside of the tailgate down

and then the real surgury started lol...here is the pass. door with the bad section cut out

the rust on the drivers door wasnt as bad as we thought it was

heres the drivers door all repaired

and heres the patch in the pass. door...used panel bond which is as strong if not stronger than a weld and there is no chance of warping it

heres what the pass door looked like all finished in primer

and then i started working on a small rust spot by the tailpipe

heres the finished product

and then i cut the wheel arch out and we had a surprise waiting for us lol

heres the installed patch

unfortunatly i dont have any pics of the finished product

drivers side patch was a breeze here is the finished product

and then we started the painting process...started with the inside of the bed

and the next day we painted the rest of the truck

yea but it took WAY too long...like a month and a half...that truck shouldve been done in 3 weeks

Reminds me of my old ram, mine was an 86, that same color too!

That tailgate was off of a 89-93 ram though, not a 84

I still miss that truck, mine had way too much rust though

Ya know, mine had some problems too, then again, when you get a 25 year old truck, your gonna get that.

Im looking for one of them so bad for after i move, so i can start a project truck, i have to many ideas, and parts still, from my old ram.

reminds me of my buddie's '81 he had.... slant 6, 4 speed stick, 2wd. we beat the hell outta that poor little truck and it still refused to die.

he also had a black '82 military spec 1 ton, 360, 4 speed, 4x4 that was badass but pretty rough, and an '89 3/4 ton that i wanted before he bought it, 360 fuel injected, auto,, 4x4 red & silver with a red LE interior package. wound up having a dead trans as well as a messed up front diff.
