Post My Cheap Truck Build

Hey everyone! I've been a member for around a year now. Haven't been posting up until recently. Thought I should share what I've done to my truck. It isn't much at all (compared to some of the crazy things on here lol) but I still have payments on my other ride..so there will be more to come eventually!

This is a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. Has the 4.0 V6. I bought it in early 2013 as a little mud toy. This truck was an absolute steal so I had to go for it.

I got her home and gave her the bath of her life. I bought the truck from a guy that has used it as a hunting truck/daily driver for over 10 years. Had around 216k miles. Ran amazing, no problems starting up and driving 60 miles to my house in the 20 degree weather.

That is when I found this forum. I was looking for the cheapest (and easiest) lift/tire setup. I wanted the most bang for the buck.

Fast forward to June 2013. I chose the following setup:
  • 3 inch Body Lift
  • Pacer 297B Soft 8 Black rims
  • Mastercraft Courser MT Tires (33.00 x 12.50)

After my first drive with the new setup:

Then I realized those headlights sucked:

Went with $90 ones off eBay. Work great! Threw in some LEDs in the fogs for the heck of it.

Post up with the daily:

That's pretty much all of the major things I have done. I Plasti-dipped the ugly grey grille to black, added an aftermarket radio, and replaced the battery & radiator. Also have added yellow tint over the fog lights.

I am standing at 224K miles with no major problems whatsoever. I believe in the Beat not Babied slogan. This thing has been put through hell honestly. But, it lives to the task. This truck made me a Ford lover.. That's why I love her!

My future for her includes a roof basket or a brush guard and an LED light bar. If anyone else has any suggestions or questions just reply

Thanks for reading!

wait--just wrote this whole thing and didn't tell you how much it cost. The title doesn't lie. I only have $3k into truck and all.

Thanks! Yep. I try to stretch the dollar bill as far as it will go.
