Default Aleo's 95

Ok, I'm not doing anything crazy, not spending a TON of money, but have some spare that I'd like to throw into it. Most of the first few things are just being fixed or redone.

For instance, the rack. The supports are up top and it's a bit too high for my taste. Just for the sake of looks and to give me something to do, I'm putting the length-wise supports down on the bottom side and putting it on angle iron and putting that on the bed rails instead of having posts in the pockets.

Later I'll be building a switch box for my accessories, such as a CB, I'm thinking about a scanner, fog lights, bed lights, and anything else I feel the need to put in.

Then I'd like to have some tow hooks welded on so I can pull and get pulled out of the mud/snow.

I already have a wooden tool box that will go on back, not the one in that picture though. I'll get pics of it a little later.

I'd also like to get a K&N air filter. Any thoughts on this?

Currently it's getting new brake lines. It should be back some time next week. I hope.

Also just needs a 4wd motor to get that back on track. Practically essential with the places I go.

With school and work, and days getting really short and very cold, I don't have the desire to be out there all day working on it. Most of the more aggressive mods will be in the spring/summer.

Thanks all!

Alex

On the road! Missing a couple things, but it is safe and legal to drive.

Steering box needs a slight adjustment, 4wd motor is currently MIA but soon to be replaced, and the door ajar light sticks on, even after shutting the doors firmly. Not sure what the deal is there, but I'll have my mechanic hook it up to a scanner and see what's up.

But at least I can drive it to school. Mods to start tomorrow morning starting with removal of the current rack and placement of a toolbox and weight for hopefully decent traction.

But it's a big step up over my old ride. Brakes cut out completely on the way home from school, and the motor barely runs. Glad to have a Ford, finally.

Pretty excited to start driving it!

spray some WD40 or PBblaster in the latches, should do the trick.

Lol, when I took it to the mechanic that's what he did. Light popped off when he shut the passenger door.

Also, he said it would eventually require a new steering box. Can anybody give me a number for what that should run me if I pick up a used one?

Got the rack off and box on. CB hooked up but not mounted yet. It's just kind of floating around in the cab.

I'll have some pics soon, been flooded with homework the past few days.

looks good! you ought to paint the fender flares & bumpers black, along with that storage box.

I've been thinking about doing something like that. The color scheme just rubs me the wrong way. I'm going to have to mess around with photoshop/paint to see what I like.

The bumpers will be painted black, they are starting to get a little surface rust so I figure I'll nip it in the bud.

Wish I had the cash to paint the whole thing black!

Thanks for the comment!

Ok, school and work have been crazy lately. Vacation this week, so I took today to put some fogs up front and get the weird valence thing up front off. I wanted and had rectangular fog lights that I wanted to throw on, so I took the valence off because it had round holes and I thought that would look pretty weird.

Anyway, I thought it looked better without the cheap plastic hanging there. I ended up cutting most of the bolts due to rust, but it could be bolted back on if I ever change my mind.

Looks weird without the fogs...

So I did this!

Had to grind the sides of the mounts a bit, but they're on there pretty good. Still need some grinding to get it even, but that can wait until I get the wiring done. I tried to hook it up to the old stock foglight wiring, but I gave up on that in favor of my own work and switches. The only annoying thing is that the fog light switch still serves zero purpose. Oh well.

Since I work at a fabrication shop, I'm going to try to get some stuff from there and maybe get a bit of work done if I have any down time or anything of that nature. For one thing, the bolts holding that step will be cut. It's held in there about 73 ways from Sunday. It wasn't going anywhere.

Then maybe the rack. Also, with this week's paycheck I'll have enough to buy some lockout hubs, finally. Sick and tired of the spring and collar "automatic" hubs that have to roll to lock.

So there's the update! Thanks for reading!
