Met up with some members of another forum in Barstow for a day trip down to Lucerne. I thought we were going to the Wall, but we ended up going to Giant Rock. Fun as hell trip, I think I did about 80 miles in the dirt. We started off a bit later than normal, and mid travel couldn't keep up through the big stuff, but I still enjoyed myself and figured out I need a revalve badly.
The yellow one has a Dixon Brothers 4x4 LT kit on the front, Deavers in the rear and a Currie 9". VERY clean truck, and the color is so unique. The black one has a Camburg race kit on the front with Camburg hubs, Deavers in the rear with an Explorer 8.8
First time seeing the Night Race memorial at Slash X Cafe.
My buddy Taylor's race truck got a new radiator and they didn't burp the system so when we got to Slash X we had to fill up with like 2 gallons of water. We should have figured after a couple of miles that the truck should have stayed near the trailer, but oh well.
A quick stint on the highway from Slash X to the start of the trail. The race truck is "plated."
Stopped along the trail to regroup
Little bit of crawling action
And then the race truck the black Ranger and I were going to take the highway back to Barstow to load up the trailer when the race truck truck developed electrical issues and wouldn't make any power. 50 miles from the trailer as the sun was going down, so we made a fire in the dirt. We had one guy who lives in the hills right there stop and ask if we needed help, and CHP pulled over and asked if we were OK then made sure we'd put out the fire before getting back to whatever CHP does out by 29 Palms.
All in all, it was a pretty great trip. Did a lot of miles, beat the truck and got some accidental air while getting sikkk for the camera. Took longer than expected, but it was worth it.
