Just noticed you have a single post Bow / Front Eyelet (anchor / winch attachment point). Which has only a single nut on it (not even an added oversized washer). This will fatigue the surrounding aluminum quite quickly and eventually may pull right through it. May I suggest you go with a double posted, double plated Bow Eyelet as shown in the attachment. This will make for a much more solid anchor / winch attachment point. At a cost of $10 to $20 max. Better safe than sorry lol. Ya don't want your boat bailing off your trailer on the highway, or losing your anchor and rope / chain, or the expense of repairing the front of your boat after a eyelet pulls through it, ugly mess lol. I have seen these senarios played out over the years again ugly lol.
Cheers Jeff

Cheers Jeff | Hey thanks! That is just temporary. I took the handle off to be able to sand and havn't put it back yet. Even so, i want to put an eylet there. As you can see, that one is not centered or anything. where can I get one of those eylets?

Any Marina or Marine Supply shop should stock that item (or at the least, be able to order ya one). Or ya can go on line to purchase one. You will need this secure anchor point as in looking at your boat you have no side cleats front or rear. And that's a sweet deal for the spray gun, nice.

got the front bench braced to the front of the boat today! used 16 guage aluminum sheetmetal cut to size and bent to the right angke by the local machine shop. Looks 10000000000 times better. going to the welder tomorrow to get the gunwhale (1 5/16" aluminum pipe) capped over that sheetmetal and tied into the side gunwhales.
better pics tomorrow

UPDATE 5/26/09:
Picked the boat up yesterday with a new gunwale on the front! I looks awesome! I had to have it mad in two pieces as I went to like 5 different places looking for a 1 1/4" pipe that was long enough. Fianlly found some, but it wasnt long enough. But he had one long piece and one short piece. So I had him piece it together. Where the weld it, i will grind it smooth and it all gets painted, so it will look fine. I must say the front of the boat is STRONG again!
That means this week (probably saturday) I will put it up on some sawhorses and epoxy 4 slow leaky rivets. Then i will pick up a can of Nason (by dupont) etching primer from O'Reilly's (good stuff) and prime any bare metal spots. Then in a week or two, Ill wash her good and then paint her flat grey!

Sweet progress! Save your money. It dosn't need clear coat. Just a good quality primer made for aluminum, especially on the bare aluminum parts. And make sure you ruff up the painted areas first. Then paint with the paint you've ordered. Done deal.
