but yes, its one reason i hate building an a-arm truck that has no option or room for a centerlink setup.

You better have it that long.... Don't back out, I promise you that you will love your truck with LT. Why do you think I went back to A arms. You'll miss this truck if you get rid of it and the 3.0 is plenty in the dirt with out a cage. I never wanted to go any faster in my truck.

Roasted an outter bearing on I5 coming home

a member happened to be selling ebc rotors he'd ordered in the wrong size, so i got a great deal on rotors which i needed at the time.

since i'll have almost a complete truck in parts when i LT this thing (axle, wheels, hubs, LT kit, new glass, steering, etc), doesnt it make sense to sell this and build a truck with a 4.0? i mean logically speaking.. going this far and still not having the completeness i'd like? then i can retinker with all the neat little things and make the truck as clean as i want, wiring, interior, etc.

thoughts?

It would make sense if you get what you want out of this truck, but you won't have rear suspension so you'll have to start over there and build a new bedcage. You can buy my truck and throw that axle under and be done

Isn't it hard to find a 4.0 2wd? And then you have to look for one in good condition on top of that.

It will be hard to find one as new as his truck is in that price range especially if he wants low miles

i love that damn bedcage too. luckily, its a bolt on for the most part and i can put the rear back to stock. i dont see myself ever getting what i want out of the truck price wise, even with how clean its gotten in the past year. semipart-out, keep the good stuff, sell it, build another one...

the SLO stage of my life is ending, don't like it and have a great girl pulling me up north. time will tell if i even want to build a truck anymore, priorities have changed.

whats even harder is i will not tolerate and auto! 5 speed SOHC's are a pain to find and usually only edge rangers, making that XLT kit useless, but it could buy me a new one no problem. i might keep it in the 98-00 range, that way i can legally smog a 5.0 if i wanted down the road, and i should be able to find a 4.0 5 speed with my "frame". i have no issues going and redoing something on a stock truck to make it cleaner. reliability is what i need first and foremost. meaning fuck ford im looking at toyotas! lol i kid.

Get a 4.0 auto and just drive till you can afford a 5 speed swap. Its not that expensive and it will make finding a clean truck easier

not a half bad idea right there. the m5rod-1HD is the harder trans to find on its own though for the same reason. an older 5 speed from an OHV 4.0 still works and the bellhousing bolts up, but is not as strong.

Another pro tip that you probably won't listen to is to buy a truck built... I don't even look at spending money on my truck as much as I use to. Only thing I do is look to see who will give me the best deal to cage it and what seats I want to run.

Here's an idea. Get out of Rangers altogether and find a 4runner.
