Re: Morgan's 2004 ranger
a few weeks back i detailed the truck for the first time in about a year and a half. its crazy how the truck used to be babied and waxed every wash.
started working on my 2.0 conversion brackets.
opened up my 14in FOAs to install new resis with 90 degree swivels. much better for mounting them.
whole bunch of parts for my rebuild. brake calipers, wheel bearings, steering rack, steering pump, clutch, pressure plate, main seal, trans front seal, flywheel, starter, camshaft synchro, cam sensor, clutch slave cylinder, and i made some cork gaskets for the hurst shifter.
pics from dropping the trans, etc.
so im only $120 into my 8.8 build and i have brand new richmond 4.56 gears for it, brand new ruffstuff perches, 5/8 u-bolts, ruffstuff spring perches/tabbed, and can use the 3/8 diff cover from my current 8.8. i will try to get to a pick n pull in a few weekends and snag all the explorer disk brake gear (memorial day weekend is half off). after that ill only need to have the shafts redrilled and turned down, and install the gears.

Re: Morgan's 2004 ranger
up for sale i have 2 hella 4000 hids (conversions, not red rings). they were on my buddy's DD stock ranger and have never seen dirt. he had the covers on them for the majority of the 4 months they were on that truck. since then they have been stored inside. they were bought new and he converted them cleanly. he took the ballasts and i bought the lights to use in the future on my truck. still stored inside and now im trying to move money to other areas of my truck. i will entertain shipping these IF the buyer pays for it. i drive to and from SAC and SLO all the time so either of those area's or some place i can drop them along the way. if it requires me going out of the way for a drop off i will ask for a little gas cash/delivery charge. these worked when pulled but i will try and verify before i sell them. price is $220 for the pair, ballasts are $20 a pair on DDM's site. pics will be uploaded very soon, have to post them from my phone. looking to sell asap, price is OBO (but be reasonable )

Re: Morgan's 2004 ranger
That's a much bigger oil leak than I had. Wasn't that a new motor at some point?
Did you replace the oil pan gasket too while you were in there? That's one thing I wish I had done.

it was a new short block, all the top end and accessories are the same. possible overfilling .5 qts of oil and high oil pressure added could have blown it at some point in the last 80K since the motors been dropped in. i didnt feel like lifting the motor up to do the bottom seal. ill get to it later lol. question for you though, my first block had a little rubber funnel under the oil filter to stream the oil around the starter. second block it was missing and the oil leaking on the starter killed the starter over time creating my misfire on startup issue. question is where can i get that funnel and does anyone else have one? if so send me a pic so i can have it for reference when i go to ford.
new flywheel, starter, and cam sync should solve all the CEL issues. it didnt throw a code when i fired it up in the driveway for the first time since this has been done. just needs the new master installed and bench bled and shes ready to tear up SLO all summer long. finishing my semester, turning 21, and moving into a new house all within the next 2 weeks.

Re: Morgan's 2004 ranger
It's called an oil filter splash shield. Seems to be part #F87Z-11161-AA.
Ford says $20.
FWIW, I think that stupid thing just keeps oil from dripping down the side of the block. Oil still gets on the starter no matter what. Whenever I change my oil, I always just crawl under with a rag and wipe the starter off.

because you have a 4.0. With a 3.0 the filter is on the side of the motor mounted horizontally
