at least its stronger than the a4ld that might be under there, havent checked what this one has but the m50dr1 is the stronger of the 2 autos. if it stays auto itll get dual tranny coolers. and yes a manual tcase is sooooo needed. rather always have a dog leg than hitting a button and waiting for a thud.

In theory I could lift it the way it is but a solid axle will be cheaper to put in and less of a pain.

Until you break that D28 in the ttb. Then you will be doing the swap anyway.
It is so strange to me they put the 28 up front but the 31 spline in the rear.

M50dr1 is the 5 speed behind the OHV, m50dr1hd is the 5 speed behind the sohc. A4ld should be the auto behind your OHV, the 5r55e behind the sohc. Or the 4r55e auto from 95-00...

Dana 28's were phased out in like 89. The Expo should have a D35 IIRC.
