Yea. It seems like the only 01+ 4x4 trucks that came with 3.0's were regular cabs, which makes them less common.

It's still better than the one I had. Lol.

I don't understand why everybody likes them. Lol. But if I don't have a set by the time you do that, I'll take you up on that.

And thanks!

So what transmission do you need? I've found a lot of manual rangers in the yards near me that recently.

I'm guessing a 3.0 4x4 manual? Does it matter which transfer case it had? Does reg cab or extended cab matter? Any year range?

Yes Al, unfortunately. When the 3.0 dies, the truck will be getting a 4.0.

It has to be from a 2001+ because of the output shaft speed sensor. Cab size doesn't matter, however it seems like very few extended cab Rangers came with 4x4 and a 3.0 after 2000.

I can find these transmissions all day long. But they all have over 130,000 miles. My truck has 90K, and I would prefer my transmission have similar.

Okay now your post makes sense. I thought yours had the 4.0.

I wish it did. If it wasn't for the fact that my truck had almost everything else I wanted, I wouldn't have bought it.

So as long as it has a 3.0, 4x4, and is '01 up it's good?

I'll keep in eye out, I think I saw a mid 70k mile one in 1 yard, not sure if it's a 3.0 though. I'll check tomorrow. They only want $50 per transmission. If you got an R&L location near you, pallet shipping is cheap. I got 2 transmissions and a rear diff out of California shipped to an R&L near me and it only cost $100.

Pretty much yea. It's very unlikely that it will be in a Supercab. I haven't seen a single 01+ Supercab 4x4 with a 3.0.

When I bought this truck, I wanted an automatic. The only things it didn't come with that I wanted were a 4.0, and 4x4. I knew I could swap to 4x4 down the road, so that wasn't even a huge concern. Not having a 4.0 is the worst part.

LOL ... yeah, that one you had was history after it came in contact with your garage.

The Supercab Ranger with the 3.0 and 4X4 was only made up to 2003 and only 25% were made like that. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they were only like that from 2001 - 2003. Ford got smart and eliminated that set up in 2004 because it was very weak.
