As low as your truck sat in the front, probably.

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
If anybody has ever wondered what the inside of the rear propeller joint looks like on a 98+ Ranger front driveshaft, here you go.
Dorman sells a repair kit for the rear propeller joint in case you have a torn boot or some other wear. It's part# 932-201, and not very cheap.

This was the better shaft of all of the ones I saw in the junkyard. Most of the Explorers were 4x2, so front drive shafts were slim pickings. I wasn't going to grab this one originally until I realized the lack of 4x4 Explorers.
The kit is something like $130. If you can find a better driveshaft, I would because it would probably be cheaper than this kit. I'm gonna order the kit from Advance so I can use their discount codes and knock off some dollars.

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
Finally got the stubborn bolt out of the third arm so I could remove the dampener assembly that Rangers don't come with.

I think they are as well. Mine rode level with a t-bar crank. Never rubbed with 33s

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
Popped open the front diff cover to take a peek and make sure the axle actually matches the code that was on the door sticker. 41 10 is stamped on the ring gear, so it is a confirmed 4.10 front axle. Ring Gear, Pinion Gear, and Spider Gear teeth are all in great shape. This axle is definitely a go.

I'm hoping to have the axle installed and the truck dropped back down by January. Hopefully sooner. Then transmission and transfer case will be installed a month or so after that, depending on how long it takes for me to find them. Body lift will happen sometime between January and March, more than likely.

Thanks Alan!
On a side note, I'm really starting to think about ditching the toolbox and going back to a set of the factory bed caps. I love the way this truck looks with just the step bars, but the top of my bed sides are pretty dinged up now. I need something to cover them when I ditch the toolbox.

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
Goodbye toolbox. Hopefully gonna replace it with one that sits on the bed floor.

I meant to ask you...how do you like the Duratracs? Are they quiet? Does your gas mileage suffer? Lol

They've been pretty decent tires. They are a bit on the noisy side. But, I have them on 15x10 steel rims, so it might be different for me than it would be for you on your aluminum 16's. The noise doesn't really bother me, so it's not terrible. They definitely have that all terrain sound to them. They are wearing really good for what they are. Just like any tire, keep them properly inflated and rotate them periodically and they should last you a few years.
