Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
Ladies and gentleman, it is officially on.
Total so far? $100.
The propeller joint on the driveshaft has a torn boot, so that will need to be rebuilt. But at least I have it.
The axle is a 4.10 Open, but that should get me through small sticky situations just fine. I don't really wheel hard enough to justify an LS unit in the front.

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
Thanks Morgan!
After cleaning up the axle, and removing the ball joints from the steering knuckle, I can tell I pulled this axle from the right truck. The diff fluid is incredibly clean and still has that light caramel color to it. The upper control arms and lower ball joints at the least were replaced recently, so I know this truck was taken care of. Sad to know such a nice truck was wrecked, but at least I grabbed some good condition parts off of it.

lol, exactly. I'll finally be putting some truth behind the 4x4 decal I have on the tailgate.

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
Knuckles and driveshaft de-greased, sanded, cleaned again, primed, and painted.

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
Everything is a complete bolt in I'm sure, but iirc there's like one tab for the diff that needs to be welded on? Do you need a new trans again or is the tcase divorced? My knowledge is limited by 2wd. Haha

Yep, I need to weld the bracket for the third mounting point. It's for that black arm that bolts to the side. The front two mounts are there. When I was pulling the parts, I took a close look at the bracket, and it doesn't look like too much beef. I can probably have the junkyard cut it off for me.
I do need another trans. The BW1354 is married to the trans via an adapter bolted to the trans. Transmission has to come from a 2001+ 4x4 3.0 Ranger, which is proving to be difficult to find locally. Seems like the large majority of 4x4 Rangers after 2000 were 4.0's. I'll probably have the front axle in before I find a transmission for it.

Re: Sticks-2003 Ranger Edge
It's not as hard as you think. The budget 4wd model had a 3.0. I knew a few people with them. But yes harder to find. Going to track down a bw1354m?

Eventually, but I might run a 1354e for the time being with one of those shifster things installed in place of the shift motor.

Lift spindles will be removed, as will half of the leaves in my ExpoRanger leaf packs. I already know I can clear the 33's without a body lift, so I might mall crawl that way for a little while until I feel like doing the body lift.
Truck didn't look too terrible on just #1 bars and an AAL.

I ran my truck like that for a month before I did the lift and didn't have any rubbing issues....
Unless you're talking about the flares and valance. I trimmed those when I came home from the tire shop.
