Much thanks for the advice Jason, and wow on breaking the rear end with the 3.slow lol that takes some serious beating to get that much torque out of that engine. I'm seriously gonna consider changing the rear end out since i got a buddy whose got a couple old exploder 5.0s layin around.

Tyler, nice avatar! Lol.
And Alex, if you're buddy has a couple lying around snatch one! And yeah I did beat the ever living piss out of that truck though. The axle finally just couldn't take all the burnouts and 2nd gear scratches lol. It was run VERY hard.

2000 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L V-8:
Engine has 116K miles. Great compression, got it with complete engine wiring harness, the ECM, and the battery cable wiring harness all from the same 2000 Mountaineer. Also he threw in the motor mounts, engine plates, and the front engine brackets with it. Total cost on this was $435 with taxes and all. Not a bad price. It is in great shape with no cut wires or connectors and no cut hoses etc from either the motor or the wiring harnesses which is rare! So I got lucky on it. I think I got a great deal on it. All I need is an alternator, power steering pump, and A/C compressor. Good thing is though the A/C compressor in the ranger will work on this motor. So will a windstar, and other Ford vehicles I found out.

Thats a heck of a deal for the motor. I paid that for a stock 3.slow..

Nice job. I'm lucky on my rear end. Mine already has an 8.8 inch housing with the 31 spline axles so upgrading the rear end for me is not required. That is a steal on that motor. You'll love the hell out of it.

WOW. This is a great write up so far. I am hoping to do a V8 swap too. Can't wait to see how it turns out!!
