Default 01_ranger_4x4's 2001 Ranger from the beginning.

I have been organizing my pictures and found a few new ones. I thought it was a good time to make a history of my ranger/ work in progress thread. I little back ground on the truck. I bought it in July of 2002 from a salvage lot, the truck had been in a broadside/ roll over accident and was totalled. I purchased the truck for $6000 and it had around 10,000 miles on it at the time. My father owns a collision repair shop so it ended up there for its rebuild which took 3 months, it was finished on my 20th birthday.

pics at the salvage yard

at my fathers shop during rebuild. needed a roof, drivers door, passenger door skin, left rear bedside, hood, windshield, mirror and the left rocker and rear door has to be pulled and straightened along with the bed structure.

the day it was finished, October 3rd 2002, happy birthday to me! note the already cranked t-bars and i had already installed the stereo and speakers i had in my old ranger (1996 stx 4x4)

First real mods i did was a Flowmaster dual exhaust straight out the back and 31x10.5 BFG AT's on Mickey Thomson classic II's and a tonneau cover. I also put a K&N intake kit on it as well as a Jet chip (waste of money)

the truck stayed that was for a couple more years untill after i returned from overseas and then i added an RCD lift, headers, SCT X-CalII tuner, 33x10.5 BFG AT's and 4.56 gears sometime after all that. also had to re- route the exhaust because the lift shackles were in the way of where i had the pipes before

only pic i have of it right after the lift before the 33's

i got bored with the Mt classic II's so i gave them to my mom to put on her jeep with my old 31's and i got a set of MT classic locks

well a couple more years went by and i got bored with the wheels again so to liven them up a bit i had the polished lock rings powder coated to match the truck. i also tore down the front suspension and coated the entire underside of the truck with POR-15. the JD traction bars were added somewhere in there too.

during and after the POR-15

----------

it doubled as the limo/ flower hauler from our wedding. lol

well the BFG AT's started to get small and since i didnt drive the truck in the winter anymore i ponied up for a set of 33x12.5 BFG KM2's

next small mods were 06+ corners and tails, scangauge II, new alpine head unit and probably some other small mods im forgetting.

In the last couple years not much has changed really. it has been retired as my DD and is now my weekend wheeler/ dune toy and just something to drive when i get bored with my F-150. last year i removed the stabilizer bars to make is more compliant off road and just a couple weeks ago it got a brand new optima yellow top battery.

(i spy a demonfx4 leaning on my tire...)

and these are the latest pics from a couple weeks ago.

thats it for now. future plans for this truck is a SAS and eventually some sort of engine swap, either a 5.0 or 4bt cummins but thats a long way away. untill then i just plan on having fun with her in the dunes.

to be continued.....

Awesome man! This is one of my all time favorite Rangers. I also agree that a jet chip is a total waste of money (had one in the Chev until two weeks after I bought it, it started throwing a code). I threw it up into the attic of my parents garage and it's still sitting up there collecting dust.
