Well the seats were taken out to modify the Explorer center console . I cut 3 inches of the bottom of the console to allow better access to the seat belts. With this done I can now start on the trim panels needed up front , once that is done the subwoofer box and amp rack .

The other day I was at the wreckers looking for a light bulb for the headlight switch , no luck ,but I was able to score the rear trim panel underneath the rear window. The best score was a 2001 Windstar roof console with the sliding door switches in it . I will use the switches to control my Autoloc power door locks . the main switch for the sliding doors will be used to turn my fog lights on and off .
Other plans for this console is to house my Tom Tom as well as the 12v charger for my cell phone .
Things are slowly coming into place , now if it would just warm up so I can work outside and get some of the stuff installed

this winter hasn't been the greatest for working out side . I sure miss my garage , anyway a bit of an update on what has happened with the truck .
first off , I cut approx 3 inches off the bottom of the Explorer center console to be able to get at the seat belts better . I also found a Windstar upper console that I have installed but not completely fitted yet . I modded the wiring to control the power door locks from inside the truck , It also houses my GPS, plus the sliding door swtch will be used to control my fog lights .
The other day I had a rear wheel cylinder fail , what a mess , this is the first time in 35 years of driving I have had a break failure . I replaced both wheel cylinders , one adjuster , all the springs and shoes . I didnt have to replace the drums , so now the truck stops on a dime and gives me change.
Today I replaced both door locks with ones from a 98 Ranger as the clip on the Mazda lock broke and I cant get a replacement . The Ranger locks came with the key and were free.
While I was at the wreckers I found a B2300 with a great interior so I am getting a newer clean headliner, inner door panels and the stereo bezel , to replace the worn ones in the truck .
I also scored a 97 step side box ,the only draw back is it needs tail lights and a tail gate .
now I want it to warm up so I can get working ion all my projects for the truck .
I still dont have a camera but it will come in due time

Its been a while , I was at a u pull it wreckers today and scored 2 power mirrors , the door trim with the switch , the connectors ( have to make the harness for the mirrors) ,a replacement glove box all for 36 bucks . the glove box , mirrors , and the door trim panel are installed. I am going to have to wait to make the wiring harness as I need the wiring diagram .
I still dont have a camera so no pictures yet

the start of my new stereo layout , I need to be able to use my jump seats .

Forgot to add this picture with the seats back , the curve of the subbox matches the seats

----------

I also added a Rockford Fosgate PA-2 to my dash , it certainly made a big difference in the sound quality

now for my fix for the Mustang rims , As most of you know the front center caps wont fit over the bearing caps , my solution was to cut a 2 1/4 inch hole using a hole saw , I think it looks great , just have to paint the bearing caps to match the center cap

----------

the center console ,sub box and wire cover all will be painted in satin black to match the dash black . that way if it get marked up it is an easy fix

Well I had a set back on the stereo install , I was coming home from work Saturday morning , I had the stereo cranked as usual , all of a sudden no bass , I fried the subwoofer . I now need to find a 10 inch sub that will work in ..4ft^3 . I have found one from Morel , just have to check on the pricing

It has been a busy 3 days , I now have a hybrid , The cab and frame are the 96 Mazda, the box and front clip are from a 99 ranger XLT . I was a very interesting swap , two different generations of truck , had to do lots of modifications to get the front to swap over .
Pictures will be coming so don't ask for them , check back next Tuesday .
I will say one thing , Ford has way better head lights compared to Mazda .
With everything I have done , the truck is a FORZDA

More repairs today , was returning home yesterday from my parents where my parts truck is located , and the carrier bearing went on the drive shaft . I am going to attempt to use the driveshaft from the 99 ranger , it is a one piece aluminum shaft . If that wont work I will change the carrier bearing on the two piece shaft .
I really shouldnt be surprised the Mazda has over 300,000kms on it , parts wear out and break .
I will have pictures up later today of all the work I have done in the last week .
