4.6 DOHC into my 98 Build
Inspired by another member on here who has the DOHC in his 98, I also have elected to do the same swap with a little bit of a twist. Right now, I am in the parts gathering phase. So far here is my break down....
1. 95 Complete Mark VIII = $700.00 (broken valve spring 113k miles)
2. 02 Crown Vic engine, trans, complete vehicle wiring (headlamp to taillamp and everything in between) - $1200.00
3. 94 Mark VIII (less rear end) = $250.00 (180k)
My engine plans are to use Mark VIII Bottom end, as the Block is produced by and Italian company who also makes Ferrari engines. This block is known for being good for 1200-1500 horsepower stock. (Source Sean Hayland book 4.6 engines). I will be using 1 of the following cylinder heads. Lincoln Aviator, 99-Up Continental, or 03-04 Cobra heads. My reason for these cylinder heads are because the Mark VIII cylinder heads have a few week points for what I am trying to do. Not only do I want a V8... but I want something different, something that not many people have, therefore I am actually going to build my engine mildly prior to installation.
The Mark VIII heads are great heads, they actually have much better flow numbers than the 03-04 Cobra heads. However that is only at WOT. That is why they had to be equipped with IMRC's (Intake Manifold Runner Control) to reduce the intake air volume into the cylinder. These would be best used in an application where WOT is almost all the time as it wouldnt idle for $#!T.
Well this is all I have for now, I will post pictures of the cars Ive purchased. If anyone needs any parts off of them let me know. I stripped the mess out of both of the Mark's.
Also, pictures of the engines would be coming soon....
