2nd day of driving

on the way home from work, decided to grab something to eat....
sitting at a stop light...minding my own business....my head involuntarily smacks the back window

i've just been rear ended

i think to myself..."are you effing serious?"

get out to check the damage expecting to see a mangled bumper....
there was one....but it wasn't mine

just a few scratches....

i got all of the kids (16 y/o) info
debating what to do with it....i'm gonna sleep on it for now and think it over

my freshly rubber coated bumper will need recoating...

any opinions or advice will be appreciated

id say if no damage, make the kid buy you a can of rubber coating and anything else you would need and call it even. He probably wasnt paying attention which is his fault but dam, he just effed up his parents car.. there goes his Christmas

yeah...it sucks I got hit

i'm glad there was almost no damage

a few scratches can easily be fixed....a bent bumper and brackets are a little more of a pain

minor update:
i talked to the parents of the kid who hit me....they are making sure i get paid after Christmas....in their own words "we will make him do the walk of shame"

Truck runs like a top.....always starts with the 1st turn of the key
Manual choke FTW!
idles smooth and accelerates hard (for a 2.8) lol

the driver side hub i think is going out or it has a bad bearing.....it grinds randomly when in 4wd....mostly while slowing down....haven't taken it apart yet to see

the passenger seat is in....but its being held in place by 1 bolt and the seat belt, so still no passengers.....

The stereo is finished...all speakers are in and working ( no pics yet)
sound quality is amazing....though it could use a small sub...

CB is still sitting on the shelf waiting for install.....just need time

but for tonight....i'd thought i'd get in the holiday spirit so i dusted off the old LED christmas lights i used on Stig 1.0 a few years ago.....

so far i couldn't be happier for how the truck turned out......it still has a few flaws but they will get worked out over time

Nice decorations on the truck.

I've never had to deal with manual choke, what's it do?

since its a carbed motor it has a choke like injected motors have an IAC

when its cold outside you want the choke to be closed so the motor runs rich and starts a lot easier.... otherwise its a PITA

most chokes have a thermostat and linkage to the manifold that open and close automatically via vacuum pressure and temperature

i left the vacuum linkage attached but i got rid of the thermostat and ran a cable into the cab and it comes out where the cig lighter used to be...

now when i want to start it on cold mornings i just pull the cable....tap the gas twice and turn the key....starts everytime

after its warmed up i either rev it a few times and let the vacuum open it up or i just push the cable in....

i thought the same thing.....still trying to figure that out

i know chevy had a 2.8 around the same time period but i know its not the same motor.....

the Ford 2.8 was originally put in the Pinto and Mustang II's in the 70's
thats how i got the vacuum advanced distributor....i looked one up for a 77 pinto...lol
