@Winks:
picked up the truck for $600....around here a running POS 4x4 usually sells for about $1000 no matter what
and i have about $400 in parts in it....yay for O'reilly employee discount

@Joshydog:
the bed was easy to get off...i highly recommend getting help from a friend...(i did it myself and it sucked) the bed bolts were the hardest....i broke half of them

next was the straps.....1 bolt on each strap....if they are PB blasted they should come loose rather easily
be sure to disconnect your fuel lines first...the handy dandy fuel line tool is very helpful

The floors and interior are my next big hurdle.....haven't quite decide what to do yet but since this is a budget build, if i do end up replacing or patching the floors, i planned on cutting pieces out of the bed of Stig 1.0

the interior is gonna be something different all together.....i'm rewiring almost everything to my liking....some LED's, more lights, tinted windows and other things that may get me in trouble but who cares...its my truck

That's a great price. What did you do to remove the broken the bed bolts?

That's looking great! Glad you could use something from 1.0 on there.

UPDATE:

got the manual choke cable run today...had to do some custom fabbing and drilling
but nothing major

pulled the rest of the AC stuff out and vacuumed out the cowl (nasty)

stripped the dash out.....radio, cluster, hvac controls

found out the vent selector cable was rusted in 2 which would explain why i couldn't get heat anywhere but from the defroster

and i have an oil leak that started to show up since i started parking it on a slight incline

4wd is fully functional but i have 1 more u-joint to replace

started painting and working on the interior

i took out the cig lighter since i don't smoke....and i ran the manual choke cable through it.....the pic is just of the cable bracket centered in the hole but you get the idea

bedlined the front bumper this morning.....

not much for pics....been workin too fast to stop and take some, so theres a lot left unseen....guess you'll just have to wait

not really an update but....

got the front end put back together...its been on jackstands since last week with no wheels or front driveshaft

i also did my 1st gen LED gauge cluster mod.....i used red LEDs to match the interior
i have pics but theyre kinda crappy so you guys will have to wait

my work schedule took an odd turn so i work days now which means no time to work on the truck.

since the cold weather is finally here, that means i may not get a chance to paint her anytime soon

i have this weekend off and i plan to get all the electrical wiring done (lights, stereo and other oddities)

i may even tackle the exhaust....i still have none....lol

i have all the supplies just sitting in boxes waiting....now i just need the time to hook it all up

the suspense is killing me....i want to cruise around in this beast like a fat kid wants a cupcake

FINISHED PAINT!!

sort of.....didn't get to the Hood or tailgate but the majority is finished

started on the electrical stuff....got most of the wires run, power block mounted and some got relays mounted up...still working on fabbing up a switch board for inside the cab and the interior is still a wreck

Paint was my weekend priority since it was in the 70's probably for the last time this year...

onto the pics since i know thats what you all want....

Masked off above the 1st bodyline to spray on a layer of bedliner....may eventually paint it a gunmetal color

and as of this morning....
