Default Short Course Ranger (98 ranger xlt) WARNING. LOTS OF PICTURES

1998 ford ranger xlt
2.5L 4cyl 5 speed manual

this ranger has 4" polyuethane fender flares and 6" glassworks bedsides. we custom fabricated new upper and lower arms as well as a new spindle. giving us 3" wider stance per side. we are running an 8" coilover swayaway in the front and soon bypasses. we are currently working on the 3-link set up in the rear featuring a ford 9". we also chopped the top 2 or 3 inches giving it a lower stance

Couple of sugestions. It appears your going to have problems with durability with that 3 link. Your upper should have some sort of gusseting or bracing at the axle joint. The two butt welded tubes should have something else helping them. Specially on a truck that Im assuming is going to see air time.

The other problem I see is your lowers. I forsee alot of bent lower links in your future. The straight tube lower with the coilover mount like that is going to have alot of forces on it and is more then likely going to need some help to keep from bending.

all links in the back are .240 wall chromoly tubing. which is 1/4 inch thick! forces on the links will not be great enough to bend them. this is more of a DD than a race truck. its main purpose is to wow people and wont be driven hard at all.

the next truck we are building will be a real pro-lite short course truck that will race in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series

yes. very thick and very expensive. about 6$/foot here in socal. we had to machine down the bungs to the heims a bit to get the tubing to fit over it. the bungs were designed for .180 wall use
